I'm going to call vibrant tomorrow and get their insights too.

I want to reduce drone as much as possible without overly deepening and rounding out the tone. I happen to like a higher pitch overall, and even a little gnarliness.... So long as it's not accompanied by deafening drone.
This is where a well sized helmholtz usually helps the most. If you can find the exact rpm you don't like, you can easily calculate out the size of the helmholtz.

If you run out of room between the resonators and need a bit more you can always run some mini resonators... I have two between my vibrant resonators on my off road truck and they killed some rasp and drone and it sounds great since the entire exhaust is no more than 4.5' long.... So what I'm reading, is that the drone on the Remark exhaust for the DE5 is so bad you have to re-engineer the tone of the exhaust with additional aftermarket resonators?

Admittedly I'm a bit confused. I've had enough aftermarket exhausts on cars in the past to know that I never needed additional "tuning" on any of them...

My Invidia Q300 did introduce some drone but definitely nothing I feel like I have to actively combat...

There's also a point of removing or reducing things like catalytic converters while also increasing piping size that changes how an exhaust sounds. Sometimes adding that high flow cat jumbo downpipe lowers the rpm of the resonance that a catback exhaust was intended to kill with the factory pipe. It's often why some enthusiasts are driven to buy all exhaust parts from one company so it's "one throat to choke" so to speak. I always joked on the gti the downpipe was really the "drone pipe" and it's not too terribly untrue on these cars too.

Resonators can do a lot to kill specific tones. Helmholtz res are even more effective but take more targeting/tuning. I've heard a couple catless Fk8 and Fl5 on track and they sounded pretty terrible around 2800 to 3500rpm and less than 100% throttle. I'm pretty confident it's because of lack of decent resonators.

Just installed the PRL rear motor mount. The last time I installed an aftermarket rear motor mount was on a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 which was also FWD. As I remembered it made quite a difference in the quality of shifting and eliminated some wheel hops.

Removal and installation was uneventful. I did put a little bit of grease on the spindle surfaces of RMM as well as the mating brackets. A rubber mallet was definitely helpful.

Went for a test drive and I was pleasantly please with the smoother shifting, especially between 1st and 2nd. Kind of reminding me how my Miatas used to shift. Money well spent IMHO.

I’ve had the PRL rear motor mount for a few months now and it’s one of the best modifications for this car. Probably the first one to do. Agree it’s well worth it!

Is it worth it even under non-spirited driving conditions? I’ve been looking to do with my ASpec. I feel like there is a lot of movement when I do get on it a little coming from a stop and merging onto the highway.

I'm also interested in the rear motor mount upgrade. 1-2 shift in particular is annoying haha. Is it something that requires the front of the car to be on jack stands or can I get away with lifting the front of the car with ramps?

Installation otherwise looks surprisingly simple (I somehow expected it to be more complicated). Are there any concerns with longer-term reliability of other parts? I remember reading up on motor mounts a lot from my VW GTI days and there were theories that a stiffer mount in one place meant more wear and tear on other mounts that weren't also upgraded, for example.

I had my car up on ramps when I installed mine. Pretty simple install and like others said, it has a nice improvement in putting down the power. I've had mine on for about 1k miles and don't really notice the increase in NVH.

Good to know - thanks! I won't need to get jack stands for the installation then if just ramps will work.

I'm not too concerned about increased NVH, but I'm glad to hear that it doesn't seem to add much, if any.

I really want this to help with smoothing out shifts and putting down the power better. I'm not a professional driver and I don't claim to be perfect at driving manual, but the 1-2 shift in particular has admittedly been difficult to get down consistently compared to other manual transmission cars I've driven. Then of course with this having so much power going to the front wheels, getting the power down better is always welcome.

I'm not planning to mod the car, but this is definitely a mod I'll be interested in if I decide to do so.

If you haven't yet purchased the motor mount, would suggest checking out wunderladen as well. I've recently switched over from PRL and find it much better on the performance end with only a marginal increase in NVH during idle.

Agreed, when the drone is very focused on a specific frequency, but in my case it's a pretty wide range.
So what I'm reading, is that the drone on the Remark exhaust for the DE5 is so bad you have to re-engineer the tone of the exhaust with additional aftermarket resonators?

Why are you confused? We tune other aspects of our cars, why wouldn't an aftermarket exhaust deserve the same attention if one isn't perfectly satisfied?

Exhaust note is highly subjective, too. You might find the Remark absolutely perfect while I wish it was a little less boomy but I like the tone up top.

Found a muffler shop that can do the job today. Going to go with the 1142 as I've learned it's much more appropriate for drone reduction than the 17950 which is more for rasp reduction, which isn't my issue. In fact, I don't mind a little edginess and raw artifacts to the sound. I'm more sensitive to excessive bass.

I just realized something funny - this is how I tend to like my sound systems too. Balanced, not bass heavy, character at the top end.
