Windows only, for now. It's very straightforward, and others can likely chime in with their experiences and offer suggestions. The basis of the approach is to figure out what you don't like or what you want to achieve, and change the values just a little bit at a time in that direction. If you've got the time to program and test drive a few times, you'll get exactly what you want fairly quickly! We always encourage the community to share what they have created, and I imagine you'll find yourself in good company very soon.Dang thatâs exciting. Out of curiosity how straight fwd is it to make changes to the device (tune it)? Can it be done in Mac? Or windows only?
canât wait to hear reviews! Basically can have our own version of +r mode without a terribly uncomfortable comfort and sport mode
Correct! The module reacts to the road and responds accordingly.I'm lazy and don't wanna go thru all 7 pages lol.
So does this ADS module turn it into "real time adaptive" suspension instead of just preset modes with fine tuning capabilities??
This is legit hilarious! LollllYes. I think? Although I read everything I am genuinely dyslexic and English ainât my first language. U mother fuckers spell so damn weird. But yes. I think. Unless I read wrong. Frankly I guess Iâm just wasting your time. Sorry bro. UWU
Very glad to hear you had a positive experience on the drive home! It's always fun to show off the shop and give a closer look at the development process.Way-too-early impressions; I just picked my car up direct from TPC Racing/DSC, where I had the DSC controller installed. Full disclosure I did receive a small discount in exchange for contributing to testing- which basically equated to leaving my car with the DSC engineers for the day. After speaking directly with Tom (the gentleman in most DSC-related videos), I was left extremely impressed by the level of overall ingenuity that goes into this product. You're not just buying the capability to tune the suspension- you're buying the expertise and attention to detail that goes into tuning it.
That said, I understand that just the drive home isn't really enough sample size to make a holistic determination on a product. I'll continue to weigh in with additional experiences as it gets warmer, real tires go back on, I get some shakedown autocross runs in, maybe a trackday or two etc. Also it's worth noting I had a DSC controller on a previous 991.2 Carrera S (pretty sure I shared that previously in this thread already), so I also have that experience to draw from.
Let me get straight to the point- I'm already impressed with the driving characteristics. It's not an easy accomplishment to improve on the OEM tuning. It is REALLY dialed in as it comes from the factory, let's be honest... I mean, Honda had two (three if you count the FK8) tries to get it right. The FL5 is very clearly overdamped (some would argue in all settings...), but the DE5 really hasn't had much in the way of complaints about the ride compliance.
Well, this controller improves upon the already high standard set by the OEM module. Tom shared that they've already gone through a couple tuning iterations, and the most current state it was in when I dropped my car off was already a very good benchmark based off impressions from an FL5 they had wrapped up testing the previous week. He said that after driving my car, they noticed a bit of an oscillation going over medium-speed bumps. They worked to tune that out and were happy with the result. He said they spent most of the time working on comfort mode, as sport and sport+ were very well dialed in from the past week's tuning. Note: although he did say they adjusted Sport+ just a bit based off my initial feedback that I hardly ever use it on the street- but they didn't want to soften it up too much and intentionally want to make sure the 3 modes are distinctly different and don't have too much overlap. Also note: regardless of what mode the suspension is in, once the controller detects over .3 g of lateral force it defaults to more aggressive tuning that disregards comfort anyway (I think of it as VTEC for suspension- someone tell me if I'm wrong).
I don't honestly know how much placebo weighs in, truly- but I did notice a distinct difference within 15 feet of pulling away from the parking space. It defaulted to Sport on startup (unsurprisingly) but I had to verify with a glance at the instrument cluster. I left it in sport for a bit, then switched to Sport+- there are some acceptably twisty/bumpy roads right around the TPC racing facility- the car overall just felt more tuned. Like you'd expect from an expert's touch. OEM+++.
Switching back to Comfort as I got closer to the highway drive back home, and yes- again quite noticeable difference from stock. Again, more tuned- but also smoothed out the inconsistencies is the best way I can think to articulate it. And there is a very distinct difference between the 3 modes. Probably more so with comfort than the other 2, but I need more seat time to fully digest all that... but switching into comfort from Sport or Sport+ is very noticeable. It was previously, yes... but more so now lol. And I did notice the difference on light bumps. I don't think I noticed the "underdamped" characteristics in comfort the way some others did- but now that I'm paying attention it does feel different. Better.
Anyway, that's all I've got for now, my impressions of a medium-length (~35 minute) drive home under various road conditions. I'm very pleased with what I've experienced so far, and very excited to get it out in more aggressive driving scenarios when I get the chance.
Thanks for your thoughts. Curious if the oscillations means that there's more tuning to be done and we will be removing our DSC units periodically to update them.Way-too-early impressions; I just picked my car up direct from TPC Racing/DSC, where I had the DSC controller installed. The oscillations were what we noticed when testing the OE module! We accounted for them in our tune to minimize them. Thanks for your thoughts. Curious if the oscillations means that there's more tuning to be done and we will be removing our DSC units periodically to update them.
Exactly, thanks Maya. In essence, my car was another data point used to more accurately dial in the tune youâll be receiving. Thatâs why I disclosed the discountThe oscillations were what we noticed when testing the OE module! We accounted for them in our tune to minimize them.
Did being on springs necessitate a different tune?Exactly, thanks Maya. In essence, my car was another data point used to more accurately dial in the tune youâll be receiving. Thatâs why I disclosed the discount.
Not that you canât modify the âoff-the-shelfâ tune you receive on the unit when you get it, but based on my experience so far you wonât need to.
Thanks Maya, looking forward to receiving mine. Got my shipping notice yesterday. The oscillations were what we noticed when testing the OE module! We accounted for them in our tune to minimize them.
