Pulled my clutch helper spring yesterday. Not sure if I like it yet or not. It made the top 3/4" of travel really floppy so I had to adjust the clutch down. It feels lower, though it's not, and it feels like shorter travel, though again it's not... Firmness is way, way up at the bottom of travel. It's no longer a stop and go traffic clutch.

Think of it as a compound bow vs a long bow. Compound is easier to hold, but still takes some force to pull in the middle where a long bow you're pulling on constant increasing tension. That's exactly how the helper works.

It didn't quite smooth shifts and added no clutch feel, so I'll pull the delay valve too.

Would i do it again? No... Not worth it. Just adjust your clutch to kill the top dead play and call it a day.

Just goes to show just because someone takes the time to make a YouTube video and swears it's a "night and day difference" because they did it on a Mustang doesn't mean any of it is actually true, or worth considering.

Also call me crazy but I find absolutely nothing wrong with the clutch, I find it nearly perfect in all conditions from stop and go traffic to hard launches. The only thing I could possibly gripe about is the car does not like to be shifted fast but again I'd point back to the fact that this is not a great drag racing platform in the first place and there's no reason to try to make it shift like one.

Adding another data point, I removed my helper spring AFTER removing the CDV and installing the CMC bypass and braided clutch line. I have a similar looseness maybe at the top 1/2" or so of pedal travel that can probably be adjusted away (it hasn't bothered me enough to put in the effort). However the added weight/resistance of the pedal is more desirable for me. Maybe a 10%-15% increase in resistance; it's not significant but it's noticeable enough.

I find that the mod doesn't directly make the clutch engagement smoother or anything but it helps to get the feel right so that you can shift smoother. Initially, the pedal travel play took some getting used to, especially coming from stock but I don't notice it anymore unless I'm looking for it. Personally, I would do the mod again but that's for my use case which is to try and squeeze as much engagement and feedback out of the car as possible while still driving it as a daily.

For me it's the lack of clutch feel still. I am VERY easy on clutches and basically don't even rev the car to get moving off the line. Occasionally I'll rev it as high as 1200rpm to take off quickly, but that even jerks passengers around too much.

With the factory setup it's just really hard to get that "flywheel is spinning" feeling in the pedal on clutch out. It's also hard to feel the throw out bearing roll on clutch in. With the rmm powerflex insert I could feel both more, but mostly in the car body, not in the pedal where I wanted it. With the cdv delete I hope some of that comes through the pedal.

Maybe it's just me being used to driving in driving shoes and feeling heavy 6 puck clutches out, but the its clutch leaves me numb at the pedal. I can't even drive in stiff bottom shoes because I get zero sensation of grab and it gets jerky .

Agreed though, this was not a mod I recommend anyone else follow. I'd love to see a whole pedal box assembly for these cars like the supra got, but oh well... I'll probably buy a spare Fl5 clutch and make it fit me better eventually.

It's definitely "different" in how it feels.

Compound bow vs long bow is honestly the best analogy here of how the stroke changes.

I put a third brake light flasher module on. Very easy, more noticeable. I chose the "4 quick, then steady" setting out of the available 16 options.

I did it without any tools. If you very firmly and evenly grip the panel at about 1/3 of the way from each end, the green plastic plugs will unseat, and then you can unsnap it from each side. It's insanely easy.

Knee deep in so many installs!

- Shipped off my visors and armrest to Aaron at Sweidit. Should have them back early next week.

- Received my matte CF turbo inlet assembly today, so I can do all of the Hybrid Racing bushings at the same time I modify the intake.

- Next is installing the Homelink mirror and harness while I have the visors off.

Modding this car has become an actual job.

So cool! Where did you find those? How was the install? Acura should’ve put those in the DE5.

Found them on a local FL5/DE5 group.

Install was done by a professional. It requires a couple harnesses and reprogramming of sensors and airbags.

Would've loved to get a leather/Alcantara version of these in the DE5.
