I've used the Schroth four-point anti-sub belts on a track car (many years ago), and wouldn't do it again. Better (IMO) to just drill the floor and do a proper six-point. I think they're fine for autocross, but six-points exist for a reason. If it's just for street driving, never mind.

When I tech cars I typically don't pass them. Using one that doesn't have an fmvss for the integra type s specifically is against most track rules. I got to go visit my Integra at the shop today. It’s been in for this repair for two months, longer than I got to drive it before the tree branch fell on it. Fortunately they were able to do everything with PDR and the car will be as good as new. The original estimate to replace the roof and repaint everything needed was $14k… so far this repair is just under $9k and everything will be original. The shop owner has been doing this for over 30 years and was very complimentary of the structure and material of our roofs. He said that any other roof he’s worked on, this type of damage would not have been repairable. It was great to see the car again and I can’t wait to drive it.

Last three pics are of the original damage. I’ll post up some after photos when I get the car back. The branch was five inches in diameter, six feet long, and fell from probably thirty feet up.

In the pic of the inside structure of the roof you can see where he removed the e-coat so he could heat the metal from the back side using an electrical arc to shrink the metal while applying tension from the outside of the car. He also had to reattach the reinforcement piece next to the dent, as it had been knocked loose from the impact. He will reapply e-coating before reinstalling the headliner. I’ve been working on cars for a long time and this process was still seriously impressive.

Yeah indeed. What really did it for me was my wife’s X3. It is incredibly comfortable and I started to not enjoy being in the integra due to the rattles it was developing. Plus the seats in the BMWs are on a whole different level vs the ITS. Don’t get me wrong, the Integra is fantastic when you stretch its legs, but the weaknesses began to show themselves more and more in the 90% of driving I was doing.

Yeah I'll be honest the rattles are starting to bother me. If I can't fix them or if it doesn't get better when the weather warms up then I may have to go to something else.

Did you get the auto or manual? Just wondering if you think it's fun to drive like the DE5 is. A90 or M2 are basically the only other two cars I would get aside from the DE5 but in really hoping to make it work with this one because there are so many things I love about it.

I almost went the m2 route but back seats for the kids were a real requirement. M3 just doesn't have the m2 charm honestly. I consider the m2 the current peak bmw.

I've been considering that exact build if I were to jump into the G87. Java Green caught my eye ever since they announced it.

Plus my kids are in my car 1, maybe 2 times a week. So I’m ok sacrificing the practicality a bit. It is a manual as well. Def not as good as the ITS, but it’s really not as bad as the reviews make it seem. Nothing a short shift kit won’t fix. I was able to snatch this up at 9% discount, probably not the best time to buy a sports coupe, but that makes it the best time to buy one and i couldn’t pass this up.

I hear ya! One of mine was a month old when I bought the its and when I tried to shove the doona seat into the m2 there was just no way in hell it would work with my 6ft self in front, or even my 5'9" wife. The m3 could juuuust barely do it, but not with the latch base. The m3 rear wheel arch was the major problem. It makes getting the seat in and out a nightmare. I also have the kids in my car6+ times per week, and I hate taking the big suv for short trips around town, out to restaurants, and such.

I'm probably going to wait until my daughter is around 5 and then see if I can stuff the kids into the m3 or m2 regularly. Hell, if they can fit into the paraplegic seats in the back of a 911 I'll probably go that route.

I commend you for stuffing the kids into a 2 door though! That's some serious dedication and contortionist activity!

Honestly, I really like the longer throw shifters. Short is fine, but too short kind of removes the fun aspect of the rowing. The m2 I think would benefit a tremendous amount from just bushings. Given the position of the trans and how the shifter assembly links up, I bet it will be a better feel than the its once the slop of the bushings is removed. For reference, the its is entirely numb compared to my Z. In the z you can feel every single gear engagement as it slots, and the m2 is a lot closer in desugn to that than the its is. The biggest problem with the its is the ultralight and ultra numb clutch. It's a video game clutch...

Pulled off the wheel to plug the tire. There is another one on my driver side because I can hear the tap dance.

With you on that one. Needed a backseat that fits carseats (one RF) so lots of cars went out the window. Maybe in a few years when the little one is FF and I don't need as much room front to back in the rear seats.

If they're very young you might stand a chance. As they grow, no way. I didn't consider them so much seats as interior storage space. You'll be looking for another option as soon as they turn 5 or 6 anyway, may as well skip the effort IMHO.

I really like the G87, and very likely would have ended up in one had I not needed rear doors. I almost had myself convinced I could get my dog in and out of an M2 anyway, but I'm glad I never got the opportunity to try. It's a different class of car than the ITS, on another level entirely when it comes to power- and, sadly for us ITS owners, build quality. BMWs have really upped their game since the E36 days.
