WOT Performance hood struts.

Had to use a proper riveting gun for the rivnuts. The shadetree nut washer and bolt method wasn't working for me - the rivnuts just kept spinning on the bolt not matter how much normal force I applied.

Also, the passenger side hood "mounting" hole was not cleanly bond welded so the bolt had to be threaded in rather than simply inserted. The driver side was fine.

All in all, a worthwhile install for not a lot of money.

Btw, I hate logos on everything so I removed the WOT decals only to find out the struts have even more obnoxious Chinese branding painted underneath. So, don't remove the decals unless you plan on replacing them with black vinyl blanks (which I might do).

Looks good. How high is the hood in comparison to the prop rod? Do they hold it open more, or about the same?

Does it allow you to go to the second position?

πŸ˜† nothing yet. Maybe an inlet pipe.
Non-performance: full set of black badges today. Just hardwired my Garmin dash camera. Hood struts will be here tomorrow. I'm considering a thicker steering wheel, and a few small carbon fiber pieces. I don't want to overdo it. Time to enjoy it.
Have you considered going "all-in" with the alcantara interior?

Just some food for thought.

Not full, maybe a steering wheel. I don't want to spend to much time cleaning it. The dash is nice.

Any plans to do the "door trim"? I've been contemplating pulling the dash trim to wrap it but it bothers me so much that the stock setup the trim doesn't match... I've considered the stick on carbon for this reason alone, but not too big a fan.

I've also considered buying the carbon door trim just to wrap it in Alcantara or to wrap the dash, carbon door trim, and shifter surround in a couple layers of nicer vinyl to get that m3 rhombicle-like appearance. I really wish someone would just make dark aluminum trim for it. In a black interior I feel everything else gets lost.

I decided it was time to add a bit more oomph to the sound system. I don't recall where now but I saw someone did a frequency curve test and showed the low end had a lot of bass. I don't know how they did their test, but that is certainly not the case in my car. My sub gets totally lost in every situation other than idling, and mids seem to be really bright. I love mids, but I like my hearing too. For reference, I've tried every setting under the sun, and turning off dts neural, dolby, etc while using lossless audio. The stock system is okay and I'd call it mid-tier, but nothing to write home about. The fender in my gti blew the els away, and even the bose in our audi is better... And it's a bose πŸ˜‘

I followed another thread I saw where they tested the Rockford 8",so I bought one and gave it a go. For 170$, ripping up an old pillow, and a bit of kilmat in strategic locations it really cleaned up the bass. Post Malone doesn't sound washed out anymore! I listen to a variety of music, and classic rock has really started to shine now. I don't like "too clean" of a sound for classic rock, because it was always intended to be heard on buzzier speakers so the middle of the road tweeters and mids in the els do a good job there. There's room for an amp by the box, so down the road I may add an inline high feed mono to triple the power output, but that may be overkill.

The other thing I did was place kilmat behind the rear plastic trim at the lower hatch area. I did sound deadening on the walls there on the metal but it always bothered me how cheap and hollow that plastic was. Some kilmat there makes a huge difference in feel, and it no longer echoes when you tap on it. It feels a lot more premium now... A lot.

Amazon hood struts & a hood prop delete. If these fail I'll never try them again
The left was a monster & I had to make my own nut holder.
Got hit by a flying object on the highway, so my one week old is going to visit the bodyshop for an estimate.

I did something similar in my Passport Trailsport. In the end, I added a LCi, & a small mono amplifier. I used a Polk Audio 8.
The stock amplifier was good enough for most music & I am an old dude now so I listen to alot of talk, pods, & news.
I might give this a try. Nice write up.
