You could try Ebay to find a Type R armrest or civic armrest that fits. I haven't confirmed, but the stock leather arm rest cover does come off, but I'm not sure it fits on the Type R lid assembly with proper hinge. If you have seen the post here about the Mikstore kit, you can use the stock hinge, but only two of the four screws fit. I will check here in the next couple days to see if the stock leather armrest cover fits on the Type R one and report back if you are interested in knowing.
That would be great! Getting just the bracket would be a lot cheaper than the whole lid assembly. My goal is to get all the parts before disassembling everything, but I am sure I will forget one screw, making it a two-step process.
I did it this way when I did the AC vent mod and the plastic base and hinge are indeed a direct swap. Just need to undo four screws and gently pry off the pad. I don't think the hinge is available separately without the pad, but a used armrest could save you some money. Like this one where the fabric is a little gross:
