yeah you really need to just look at the fender gap for comparison, it’s a subtle drop for sure. Alignment specs attached.

Did you pull your strut tower pins? Front camber is far more reasonable than mine was. IIRC mine was -1.4, -1.1. Almost a full degree variance... that's a crazy amount of variance from the factory if you didn't pull those pins...

As for the springs, it's subtle but IMHO absolutely essential from an aesthetics perspective. Never thought one inch would make that much of a difference, but it does.

Funk Motorsports turbo blanket arrived today, but I'm going to wait to install it because.... (drumroll) I just ordered a PRL titanium turbo inlet tube from Two Step Performance, with the silicone hoses to mate with the stock airbox. In my experience, airboxes are rarely an initial constraint on power until you start doing bigger turbos, so I'm focusing on bang-for-buck flow and temperature improvements.

I haven't touched the hot side of the intake tract yet (intercooler included) - if I do, that will be a spring 2026 affair.

Can't wait to receive and install the inlet!

So I committed what many of you will call a crime today. A while back I bought an active engine sound module from a wrecked FL5, and I installed it today.

I test drove FL5s against the DE5 when I was shopping for this car, and one thing I actually liked was the fake engine noise from the Civic more. While it is slightly digital, I like the throwback to the NA days with the induction howl mixed with valvetrain noise that the FL5 unit generates.

My theory was it would sound good alongside the DE5's louder exhaust. And it does! I like it a lot so far. I also like that it seems to be load driven and not just by RPM and throttle position. In that way, it behaves very similarly to NA induction noise - as if it had a large free flowing airbox.

Pics of the units side by side shown below. The FL5 unit is on the left.

Is this the same as the anc module behind the glove box? It looks very similar

Yes you just swap them out.

The one of the right is the original unit. I took the picture on the middle of the job before I installed the FL5 unit in its place.

Gotcha!

Yeah that explains why that thing had so many wires when I unplugged it. I deactivated it because I have a new woofer going in, and it doesn't play along with aftermarket subs πŸ˜…

I didn't realize the Fl5 and De5 were different on this part. I wonder why they are...?

The FL5's module is designed to increase engine noise since they had to put a world-compliant quieter exhaust system on it. It doesn't really do much if any sound cancellation.

The DE5 is a "luxury" car so its ANC does more sound cancellation rather than generation.

How difficult was it to get to? Do you have to pull out the dash trim, or can you just get to it behind the glove box?

Quite easy. Just followed this video:

All you need tools wise is a plastic trim tool, 8mm socket and phillips head screwdriver.

Didn't realize @koatic had posted this... fantastic -- thanks to both of you.
One note. He goes to the bolts first, but you can drop the lower panel before going to the bolts and that gives you much more direct access to the bolts. Picture below.

There are a few panels down there I put butyl (kilmat, dynamat) on, like the back of the glove box and parts of the upper and lower panel I could get to. It helped cut down the echo noise coming from that area. Basically if you tap it with your fingernails and it echoes like a fisher price toy, slap some butyl on and the quality goes up immensely. It really doesn't take much...

My plan is to cover the hatch / floor / doors in butyl and a little closed-cell foam later this month when I have time. I've been waiting for some cool weather.

Verdict so far: I noticed a more responsive throttle pedal, by a noticeable amount. Noise hasn't increased by that much, but I was already running the silicone hoses which did increase noise over the OE corrugated plastic ones so I imagine this upgrade would make more noise over bone stock.

Having a titanium inlet instead of aluminum was my main reason for the change, given how much lower Ti's thermal conductivity is vs Al. The throttle sensitivity improvement was a bonus I wasn't expecting!
