I'm planning on just taking the ECU out as well come time for me to service the filter. I don't know why people are so scared to take it out - we had multi-pin connectors in the military and as long as you're not a complete moron, you shouldn't have any issues.
Yeah, it wasn’t an issue. The biggest pain was having the car recalibrate after disconnecting the battery.

Sent a less than nice email to @Unity Performance about not getting parts that I ordered 4 months ago. Don't think I will be ordering from them again.

John, we’ve been pretty consistent in getting out your past 4/6 orders to you, including the one from last Wednesday, which went out within 4 hours of submitting the order. The other remaining order with the TSP Downpipe understandably carries a long lead time.

I’ll see tomorrow what’s going on with your Paragon order, something’s got to be missing. I’ll email you.

Don't care about the downpipe, I knew that. I wouldn't have ordered if I knew I'd be waiting the better part of half a year to get parts that weren't advertised that there was that much of a wait time.

It’s taking that long for the tsp dp?! Jesus. The whole premise of that product makes no sense to me. Even less now.

Believe me, 95% of my day at the shop is spent chasing ever-changing ETA’s, different back orders, hunting alternatives etc.

Paragon backorders started earlier this year, and are still ongoing - I’ve received multiple ETA’s over the months. Same case with 100+ manufacturers facing production delays of some sort.

I will get back to you tomorrow with an update on your Paragon items.

Oh dang what did U order? If it was something from pwr im sorry bro but im not gonna feel any sympathy for U šŸ˜‚
I ordered brake parts from Paragon and EBC. I emailed asking were the order was, said I didn't reply to an email that got earlier, probably true. Said they couldn't get EBC stuffs, so switched them to Hawk, then a couple days later I got the Hawk pads, still nothing on the Paragon parts. What I am pissed about, is that the pads seemed to be the problem, if it was easy enough to send the pads, it would have been easy enough to send all of the other parts that I ordered before hand and figured out the pad situation later. Sent the Pads still waiting on everything else. Nothing less than annoying.

Minimum 6 months at this point. I have heard nothing but good things about it. Unity advertised this as a wait time so I don't have a problem with that.

You go, man! You should demand better service, too. I absolutely cannot stand when I order something, they take my money, and then one or two hours later I get an email saying the item I ordered is on backorder. Half the time, I have to tell them to cancel the order and send my money back.

It gets me so upset because I know how it could be, or at least how it should be. I work for an online retailer, and we clearly show on our website whether an item is in stock. If it’s out of stock, we provide an estimated date for when it will be back in stock. That way, the customer has the information they need to make the best decision for themselves.

Does the retailer you work for also have a niche industry with small suppliers that distribute and stock for multiple retailers?

You're working under the assumption stock numbers can be pulled, are accurate, and aren't being gate kept by niche manufacturers. That varies from industry to industry. Aftermarket performance car parts are a relatively small industry. Most of my regular track supplies tend to be drop shipped, and no one knows what's on hand at the manufacturer until the order hits. Paragon is a teeny-tiny company based out of the US, not some well oiled Chinese machine.

I do work in a niche industry, but we don’t stock products specifically for retailers. We stock inventory for anyone who orders directly from us. We do have some products that we drop-ship, but we won’t contract with a supplier unless we either have access to their inventory information or they can guarantee a specific turnaround time for shipping orders.

We want to make sure we can give our customers accurate information about availability and shipping times rather than taking their money and finding out later that an item is backordered.

Not to defend vendors or suppliers

but getting accurate stock numbers is a fucking nightmare for these smaller online stores bro. I myself like supporting sbx cuz Tommy is a veteran and we vets we try to stick together and support each other when possible. Plus Tommy offers a dope ass discount for vets too.

I dunno how the interactions go down but if buddy is doing his or her best to give U the most updated expectations on shit. I feel like that’s as good as it gets man

just my two cents

this is downpipe aside. We know tsp cant build enough fast enough. U buy one of those and U just know U ain’t getting it for a good while.

also. Back in the day. Dude I mentored under used to make srt4 downpipes with high flow cats. The whole thing was basically a full turbo back set up with side exit exhaust. Used a billy muffler with flat rectangular tip so it wouldn’t scrape due to it being a side exit. Only took him two hours on the mandrel to bend enough pipe to finalize 5-6 sets a day. And in less than two days all sets were assembled and boxed. Took maybe a few months for all of them to sell since the dp couldn’t be had separately and side exit on a srt4 was loud as shit and not everyone’s cup of tea

but if this one guy who absolutely knew how to work a welder and mandrel can do this many so quickly. I’d imagine a guy who barely knows what he’s doing but only has to make downpipes can do the final welds and assembly way quicker

I say that cuz the welds are shit. I wonder if the pieces are coming from China? I get that the assembly is done here but maybe the individual un welded pieces come from elsewhere? And that’s the hold up?

also. Not doing the echo chamber thing. Seen two of those fail here locally and I’ve gotten an excellent look at that dp. Its welds range from meh to ewww to wtf to shit. Some of them even look like two people with two very different skill levels took turns assembling it tbh. It’s supposed to be back purged too but seeing the two that failed im starting to think maybe they weren’t back purged to spec? Working with argon is a pain in the dick cuz of the volume displacing thing (forget wtf it’s called)

there’s a guy in the GTI and golf r circles. One man show. I believe his name was Bauhn? Sorry if I got his name wrong but even he didn’t take this long to make his gesi downpipes. And I’ve seen the intercoolers he made, the cat backs, the downpipes. This mf was an artist. I wish I could weld as good as this cat. Coming from that type of quality in the GTI community to the tsp downpipe’s quality was culture shock šŸ˜‚ This gentleman seemed like he was on his late 20’s but he welded like he was a 50 year old dude. No lie. And that’s the best compliment U can give a fabricator.

sorry bros. These pain killers are crazy. I just ramble and ramble

I did see a fk8 with the prl dp. The one tsp got the rights to build and sell (allegedly?). The prl version looks a hell of a lot better in terms of welds but it was installed and semi covered with the heat shield. Couldn’t really get a peek inside of it.

anywho. We all want our shit bro. Don’t blame U for getting upset. And if the vendor is ghosting U and not setting up to date expectations then that’s just them earning a charge back. However it seems like the unity cats are responsive at least

sorry your stuff is taking long. Super shitty. Could be worse tho. Could be me welding your shit. And I promise U. I weld about as good as a blind mf
