It was fairly easy to remove the plastic by first starting cuts all around with a fresh blade and then crack pieces off with pliers. Too bad the underlying holes in the metal don't correspond with high/low marks but I marked them with a sharpie and then scored them with the blade. I also slightly rounded and dulled the metal tip to try to limit it scratching engine internals. It seems a little easier to read the oil level on fluid with about 2k miles of use.

How did you mark with the sharpie? Was it easy to tell where the marks were on the plastic and transfer over?

To clarify I had broken half the plastic off length wise before marking the hi/low spots with the sharpie.

wish they had one with an S on it instead of just the R
Just bought one a few weeks ago from Unity Performance. If you select the Type S, it has the S instead of the R.

It's really nice and I would buy it again but truth be told, the min and the max are a little off from the stock indication levels.

Pictures here, unfortunately none them show the S but I promise it's there.

oh ok, i was wondering why they had a separate item for the Type S when it would be the same product as the one for the Type R. definitely don't want one with the clown logo either lol. wunderladen needs to update the pictures on their website lol.

is the reasoon the min/max levels are off from stock because they're for the baffled oil pan?

when i had one for my Si i would check where the level was on the oem dipstick and then the WLR dipstick just to confirm and go from there.

They all have the clown logo. One side is the S or the R, the other side is the clown. At least for the silver one which is what I got, they're near invisible plus they're hidden anyway by the valve cover once inserted.

No idea why it's off but in the grand scope of things it's pretty minimal.

This was my philosophy. It's why I'd still by it again. It's stupid easy to read which I love and I've noticed that the OEM levels line up perfectly with the crosshatches of the Wunderladen. 1st crosshatch from the bottom and 2nd from the top.

I bought a chasing Js Dipstick, pricey but at least I can read the dipstick on fresh oil versus the crap orange OEM. Only bad thing I can say about this, it gets extremely hot and letting the engine cool down a bit still hot to the touch.

I’ve literally had no issues reading. It’s a little tricky but one or the other side should show the correct reading after cleaning it off once and doing a second pull.

I removed the orange plastic and painted the bare metal with a flat black exhaust paint. Now reading the oil level is much easier with the sheen of the oil against the flat black surface.
