So, before I go into the negatives, I want to say the tune is running well and is a huge improvement over stock. It basically makes the engine feel "bigger" overall. The area under the curve is really dramatic especially around 3-4k rpm. I am happy with the performance.

That out of the way, I am quite disappointed by what feels to me to be zero change to the rev hang (over-rev between WOT shifts, not a slow decline in revs). I was under the impression that the Hondata "race" rev hang delete completely addressed throttle plate hang between shifts. Instead, I'm still getting a rev bump between WOT upshifts that feels completely the same as stock. I'd venture it's about a 1.5k overrev if I shift at 6k, for example.

I confirmed with Phearable that they did build me a tune with the rev hang delete, so it was not an erroneous setting.

Anyone with tunes from other brands - is your experience the same as mine?

Thanks,
-Ash

@JesterTuned tune here, and I'd unscientifically say mine feels reduced by 75%. Not gone, but I don't even think about it anymore. On stock tune it bugged me pretty bad. I'm not sure that he does anything other than change that single setting though.

Appreciate the replies, folks.

Mine feels 0% changed. If anything I thought it was worse!

It definitely still exists just in a much more reduced manner. I suspect it has to do with the throttle body itself in that it's built into the hardware. Take that entirely at face value though because I genuinely know f-all about the mysteries behind it.

I will say it's less perceptible in Sport+ and revs drop a bit quicker. Even moreso with the HVAC running because of the drag.

That's a good point about sport +. I normally drive around in sport, so I should try sport+ and see if it is reduced. I avoided using sport + because I hate pops and bangs, but since I opted to delete them in the tune that's an option now.

Will report back.

How is your k.con and knock retard? I’m running map 2 on my 1.5T and while k.con is fine around .56, my knock retard is at 5.5 degrees which seems concerningly high. Trying to verify what others are seeing on Phearable tunes.

So, last night I drove for about 30 minutes in Sport+, intentionally replicating my prior driving style in Sport, and what I found is that the overrev characteristics did not change. Obviously the throttle response did change, but not the between-shift behavior.

I did observe something interesting this time though (that applies to all modes) - if I shift early, say 1-2k before redline, that's when the overrev is really prominent. The closer I shift to redline, the less overrev there is, presumably to prevent actual redlining.

That got me thinking, the Phearable tune has a 7.2k redline vs the stock 7k. This recalibration of redline could be the reason the overrevs feel exacerbated to me since there is now more "room" for the overrev behavior to assert itself.

Guess I'll just have to shit at redline all the time now... :spaz:

No idea... That's not really the topic here so I'm not looking into that, sorry.

On the Cobb tune. Rev hang is still there.

It's not worse, but also not dramatically better. The big difference is the revs climb faster, especially after 4.5k. If I get my foot off the throttle a tad sooner and back on sooner, the rev hang is largely gone. It takes some brain and foot rewiring for sure, but that's part of the game!

At least on this tune, it's not overly torquey down low and it doesn't fall flat up top. Feels very stock down low and just more alive above 3.5k. Downside with this system is still the iat/intake design. No tune can fix the terrible lag that gets introduced when the turbo heats up the intake. I need to get the blanket and gold foil on. Just basic stop and go traffic gets the iat to 150F+ after 5 mins.

Can you post links of the blanket and foil you're going to use please?

This is a curious observation. I'm on the COBB OTS Stage 1 map (FL5), and the rev hang I experienced on the stock map is either completely gone or largely imperceptible. And what I mean by rev hang is the noticeable delay and jump in revs before RPMs drop when you disengage the clutch during spirited driving, almost exclusively in the upper part of the rev range ~5,000 RPM+. This sounds to me like what @ashmostro is experiencing.

Do you have Rev match on or off?

Did any of you do an adaptation reset after tuning your cars? I wonder if that's a variable worth pursuing.
