Hello ladies and gents. Looking to get some magestic black pearl touch up paint for a few spots. Anyone have any recs, or just get from oem warehouse best? Is there an easier way to apply than others? I hate dealing with anything paint related and it scares me lol

I prefer touch up paint in a small container with a brush than in a pen. I buy it locally where they can color match anything. They can also "blend" layered paint in the same container, so you only have to do one coat.

To apply:
- Be sure to remove all rust. Don't worry about getting to bare metal if needed;
- Remove any grease with rubbing alcohol and let dry;
- Fill with touch up paint and let dry.

Forget about it. But keep an eye on it, because if the paint start to lift, you might have forgotten some rust in there and you might need to do it again.

It won't be the perfect job, but it is simple and at least you'll stop the rust.

Yeah, I always just buy it from the dealer. The Subaru ones always had the color in one end and the clear coat in the other. Not sure if Honda does the same.

Also forget any notion that you'll be able to make it perfect. You can apply multiple coats, use a razor blade, wet sand, polish....it's still gonna look like ass, so just be prepared and don't over work the surrounding area.

I usually get my touch-up paint from the dealership. If you get it somewhere else, just put a small amount on a non-porous surface and let it dry before comparing it to you cars paint. If it matches great! If not, well at least it's not on your car.

The only thing I would recommend is don't brush it on, just do little dabs. I like to use some automotive masking tape from 3M to ensure I only paint where it is needed. This also helps w/ over filling it which as it dries will shrink into the spot. You may need to do a few layers and I would recommend fresh tape each time. If you're applying clear over top, leave a little space for that. Give it about 2 weeks to cure.

If, once cured, it sits above the surrounding paint, you can either leave it or tape it again and wet sand with 1k->3k grit sand paper, but just take your time with this and keep checking how level it is with the surrounding paint. After that some polish should finish the job.

I tried using a pen style and a brush style... reached the conclusion that I should just wait to take it to a place to do a full paint correction or something.
