Just watched this video from AeroflowDynamics and even the new prelude has gear indicators..... Why does a manual car (aspec 6mt) NOT have gear indicators on the gauge? Assuming the digital cluster is still programable, they can easily push out an update to give us said indicators... but just been frustrating to see every other car (even the automatic aspec has it lol) but the 6mt comes with gear indicators. Obviously, it's not a necessity but I would assume it would make more sense on a manual car than any other car. Definitely would be a positive quality of life change and make the left half of the gauge more useful.. gauge already displays your speed 3 times (if you have the HUD) which is stupid.

That is frustrating... Can relate, I'm still waiting on them to roll out the update to make the startup animation car the same color as the vehicle. Why default them all to LCS?? Ayeee

Interestingly, the ASpec CVT does have a gear indicator when you put it in manual mode with the paddle shifters.

I get having it as we should have every option especially software side available (also the boost gauge) but with a manual car you should always know what gear you’re in and none of the Honda manuals ever had that option that I know of

Interesting. I was unaware the aspec didn't have it. The type s has the gear indicator.

I wouldn't hold my breath for honda/acura doing any software updates unless it's to fix mandated safety issues. They still haven't even fixed the bug where android auto/carplay randomly stop connecting and you have to reset the infotainment.

I don’t ever really look at the indicator and forget it’s there most of the time. I just know what gear I’m in and nothing I ever consciously really think about. I guess after hundreds of thousands of miles in manual cars it’s just habit or reflex now. I barely look at the rev indicator lol

Yea, seems to be the trend after reading up on it. Just not sure why not include it if every other trim/model on same platform has it? I agree that you should know what gear you're in whenever driving, but sometimes I'm just cruising and forget I've been in 5th instead of 6th, so it's something I would like to have just by glancing at the cluster.

This is true. It does become second nature, but it never hurts to have more information, right? Displays your speed 3 times already, so why not another set of numbers for the gears? (Really can't get over why the speed is shown 3 times)

Yea I agree more data is always better. My point was once u get used to the car you’re driving, it does end up being second nature eventually is all.

Sadly in 2025, only safety issues are addressed (otherwise lawsuits) and everything QOL is just ignored. You'd think you'd get more software support with how much these cars cost and the age of technology.

I use it to look at when I'm teaching people to drive manual in my car šŸ˜‚. Sure I could look down or count, but usually with people so new (like my wife) there's a lot of panicking they're doing that I have to quell šŸ™ƒ. Otherwise I agree, it's a useless thing.
