I don't mind the size variation as much as the style. I hate rolled tips like this, they just look cheap. The carbon ones look even cheaper to me and a bit too busy. I prefer something double wall, slash cut, angled edge, and most preferably resonated. Like ark tips šŸ˜…

Can't beat the sound though.
Another question if you don’t mind. Do you have an aftermarket downpipe? I’m concerned that with a high flow downpipe there could be drone with the Borla (or any aftermarket exhaust).

I'm on stock downpipe. I believe you're right and that with almost any aftermarket dp it becomes a "drone pipe". In that case a bigger cat and/or custom sized resonator would get you the volume and keep drone down.

The problem is that 2.75ā€ borla diameter. I assume choices for a resonator swap are slim?

catted dp swap at part throttle shouldn’t drone till maybe 2500-3k rpm. Volume will definitely be increased a hair tho. I think the worse of it will be on the highway. Shitty on the highway but at part throttle it shouldn’t be bad at all unless one is just super sensitive to it

would be dope if vibrant made a 2.75ā€ in and out resonator. That one model everyone likes cuz it kills drone effortlessly.

There are plenty of 2.75" resonators out there you could find. The problem is location packaging and size. 4 cyl just needs larger resonators. Ideally you want the resonator as far forward as possible, but in this case the front pipe and downpipe don't really accommodate a place. The only option is somewhere frontpipe back, and even there the only ideal place is to replace the aftermarket ones. Very large, well resonated tips should also cut a lot of drone out of the back, but the front will still echo a bit. The challenge the becomes finding matching tips that fit the various outlet sizes or can weld on to fit.

That’s awesome news! I’m glad there’s options.

seems like the resonator placement will be challenging. And yeah, you definitely want the resonator as close to the motor as possible. Closer to the dp the better. I personally wouldn’t want the resonator after the polyphonic thingy borla put on there. I’d be afraid of losing that really nice texture.

As someone who expected the borla to be fine and just a volume raiser, I've been turned into a borla believer. That little harmonizer does do something, and the chop the exhaust brings out is a dirty sound, in the best of ways. Wish it was lighter or made of ti for that rear section though, but oh well!

It’s basically a vacuum wave collector smashed into a burns collector. The principle works too. Yamaha has used something similar and it sounded great but borla really ran with it. The sounds it produces especially at part throttle have these crazy layered textures and tones. Only thing that kinda match it for how much of a difference it makes is the paradox hot tamale and longer megaphones.

if it’s gonna sound good its weight wouldn’t bother me any tbh

Once the rear seats and some junk are out I'm down to 3245lb min competition weight with driver and gear šŸ™ƒ so it's still reasonable. I'd guess the borla adds about 15 lbs overall. That's with a quarter tank of gas because I always plan to run full (no surge or double pump tank right now).

I was the first DE5 to have the Borla exhaust and when I'd mentioned it between here or the other forums, (especially the other forum), a lot of people poo-pooed Borla. Glad to hear someone who actually has one comment positively on it becuase I really like mine.

Borla makes good stuff. Just gotta inspect the welds. Sometimes it looks like a master welder welded it together with his apprentice

and if a weld is shit. Borla has 300% been great at swapping the sections out. Plus you can just go to an exhaust shop and have them reweld it too.

if folks can put up with invidia’s bullshit, putting up with Borla’s bs ain’t bad at all imo

I had some loose weld beads in my helmholtz. They contacted me quickly and explained the internal structure of everything down to the 1/4", which helped me get it out. They were also ready and willing to ship a new muffler section that day. While I don't believe their welds look like they were done by some precise robot at a factory, I do think the welds are solid and their support has been terrific.

The sound is distinctly borla. I love it, and I've had many people at the track tell me they love the way it sounds. Even mustang and vette people, and they're a hard crowd to convince less than 8 cylinders is an option.

FWIW on my aftermarket Remark system I was able to fit an ultra quiet 3" vibrant resonator right after the front pipe on my system. I also swapped in a 6" OD streetpower muffler in the factory resonator location.

i can't see any reason why Vibrant's 2.75" variants wouldn't fit.

Why so many modifications to an aftermarket exhaust? Wouldn't it have been cheaper and more efficient to go with another option?

Sometimes it’s damn near perfect but just needs a tweak bro

I went with a q300 because I have always loved invidias mufflers. My god their sound is truly my fave. After a bit, I wanted more texture and a small increase in volume. I’m old as fuck and as a result, I know what a megaphone sounds like. I went back and forth between a paradox and a megaphone. So I landed on the megaphone first. Had the resonator removed and replaced with the megaphone.

sounds nice but extremely tame in comfort. And in sport and sport plus it is perfect!

I’m not trying to say these exhausts aren’t enough as is. It’s more so like, we are all different and we have different expectations. Sometimes U gotta get in there and tweak something so it’s perfect (for you).
