Are there any plans or considerations to release a partner app or program that would allow fine tuning without connecting the module to a laptop? Say via Bluetooth or WiFi.

It's something we have talked about quite a bit (and the main engineer put a good amount of testing time into). We are unsure of the interest in the market, so this is useful info! I'll pass the interest along. Definitely a future possibility.

I second this. I feel like it's needed to stay competitive in a maturing market and to differentiate from offerings that use a separate controller (as posted above by unity) that can tweak settings on the fly.

I think much more research needs to go into this before I'd agree that it's needed to stay competitive. It's suspension tuning. The requirement to "tweak settings on the fly" should be far less than engine tuning, for example. You really shouldn't need a mobile app for this application. One of, if not the primary selling points is that it's dynamic. You set your baseline via laptop and live your life. You need to tweak it for a track day, then bring a laptop along with the rest of your track day kit, NBD. I seriously doubt most people buying this would need to take it to that level.

If I'm product manager for this, I push back on this as a requirement.

A sneak peek into our development process:

As you say here, it's something we have toyed with, but it is true, our goal is always to create a system in which tuning is possible but largely unnecessary. In fact, our founder created the concept of DSC controllers while racing early Porsches with active suspension and becoming quickly frustrated that to adapt to the track he would have to press buttons between suspension modes every few seconds. It completely ruined his control over the car. (And his timing). We always say that the most important primary difference between stock and our module is that we use significantly wider ranges in each mode. There is overlap, yes, but that's because you don't really want to switch between modes all the time. Isn't it better if one mode can handle a much larger variety of conditions?

The controller responds in what is effectively real time (minute fractions of a second) to things like steering angle and g force. A good tune has values for every possible combination. If, for example, you tend to drive on tough roads, maybe you'd like a slightly more pliant suspension in comfort mode, so you turn the minimum values a little lower. Now, every time you hit a pothole, the car will react. No need to switch modes from one road to the next.

The OEM modules work by showing you a difference as soon as you press the button. Our module, instead, responds to a change in one of the inputs. If you change modes while driving fairly normally in a straight line, you won't feel a difference. This is on purpose, because it allows for a more uniform experience between modes (and, again, we don't really want you to have to switch modes very often)

TLDR: The owner of DSC designed the controller because he felt that active suspension was not responsive enough on the racetrack, and he was hampered by trying to tune on the fly by switching modes. The DSC solves that problem in a few ways!

The chart really helps me to makes sense of the module and I feel a large majority of users are probably not fine tuning their settings anyway. The question comes a genuine concern for those that do want to dabble and don't necessarily want to drive with their interior apart while they dial in their suspension. Though I can see having a laptop beside you as you drive around and dial in your settings would be just as effective as a separate app or controller.

Either way I'm excited/curious about the module and how it'll affect the ride. My limited understanding is that factory is just a passive soft/firm/stiff but the new module is an active/reactive nature. The behavior at each drive mode looks like it's limiting the difference between soft/firm at each setting. Comfort means we'll have access to the full range of the suspension's capabilities, sport narrows that range a little, and Sport+ even moreso (I'm just parroting the chart). It seems like we'll get the functions of a true, high end adaptive suspension from a basic adaptive setup.

We've come a long way!

I assume you can wire it up with a USB cable hanging out the bottom of your rear seat bottom for quick connection without removing your interior panels repeatedly.

Hello @Maya@DSC, thank you for joining the forum, excited about your product! Do you know if there are upgraded coilovers in the works? I see some of your applications have options from Nitron and Tractive, is that a possibility for this platform?

According to Honda their system is fully reactive. Base so roll, input, g force, and other factors it determines dampening within a set range. It's not proactive, so it's not using GPS to select proper dampening based on the road, but it does react quickly.

It sounds like the dsx system makes use of that, but increases the ranges that the adaption happens in.

Hi @Maya@DSC, good to see you on here. I sent the team an email last week, please do respond.

I think it would be fitting for us to try out the DSC Controller as well. I'm not against not having an on-the-fly controller.

We like to learn all the products whether we offer them or not, and the price point, especially the pre-sales pricing is super appealing!

I will check with my contacts at both companies! They are always interested in fulfilling new market needs.

Unfortunately, our engineer on this product was out this whole week for a medical emergency. I hope to have an update for you once he’s back in the office! We have shipped out the Civic equivalent, but ran into a quick final tweak for the Integra, which was sidelined with the engineer out. I’ll come back here with an update once we have one!

Appreciate the update. Can you tell us the difference between the FL5 and the DE5 programming?
