When in Japan, it's hard not to pick up silly little goodies. Stopped by ASM Yokohama and got a new shift knob, seat belt covers, and a vanity plate that'll just be a cool paperweight. It was actually really nice though to be able to test out a variety of Recaros, maybe Sportsters, SR-S, or RSS to come in the future...

The ASM knob is full aluminum and is actually a bit lighter than the OEM knob and optional titanium one, but I kinda like the more tactile feel it gives the shifter so far.

Also on a tangent, found an Acura sibling that somehow made it's way over to Fuji Speedway, and going off the plate the car is from Kyoto...

I don't know what exactly has caused it but I've recently started re-obsessing over a trip to Japan (I was dying to go in the 90s/00s but was too broke... now I'm too busy... and also broke because kids in college... :nixon:)

Anyway, I've always wondered how North America-market only Acuras are viewed in Japan. Apparently the "bug eye" look from the NA-market DC2 is trending in Japan. This post with the TLX is very interesting... because domestically I'm not quite sure how it's viewed... it's a beautiful car, no denying that- but not super compelling to drive. I guess the owner of this one may disagree...

Cool post. Recaros are also on my radar and it would be great if I could find an opportunity to sit in some.

Forgot to post this. The shop that I got my spoiler on at had an R34 Skyline GTT. Only my second one I have seen in person.

It sounded really really good. The Type S is rare, but it isn't Skyline rare.

My eg (or maybe it was my ek?) used to be lifted in the dual post lift. So I could park the piece of shit skyline under it. Terrible cars. I allowed the hatch to just leak oil all over it

lemme find a pic

If at all possible, I would say make that trip happen! Japan is just such a fun country and in many ways actually really accessible as a tourist. There's so much to find for any interest or hobby someone might have, and for me I find the culture there relaxing.

I wish I was able to meet the owner of the TLX to learn about their rationale of importing one over, but I did talk briefly with one of the staff members at ASM and I think there's definitely a bit of that "grass is greener" thought around the Acura brand and a desire for things they don't get, like us with JDM only cars. The ITS however was new to him so it was fun to see his reaction to the car and how it compares to an FL5.
