Warranty Extension 1.5t Head Gasket Issue

From prior experience with these kinds of issues, make sure that you save all receipts and document all oil changes if you aren't getting them done at the dealer. I have seen them deny engines for a TSB if the engine is modded and/or the service history is not documented.

So far, yes. People on reddit have mentioned that the 2.0 has this issues as well, but the number of cases is smaller. It took honda years to admit it about the v6 and the 1.5t. I wouldn't hold my breath on them mentioning the 2.0 until the numbers pile up.

This will be the first warranty that I intentionally void on the car. Damn the torpedoes. I noted the VC gasket on mine was leaking over the weekend, so I'm going ahead and putting head studs in it next oil change. If the HG goes anytime after that once it's tuned to match the supporting bolt-ons the car already has, so be it, that's on me. Pulling the head and/or entire engine/trans assembly in these cars is stupid easy anyway. I'm actively searching for a used engine to build into something spicy as it is.

I usually go to a DIY garage (they got lifts and they recycle the oil for me) that gives me receipt and I get to put what I was there for. Also save the box tops of all my oil filters.

After the free oil change from Acura, I was planning on running 5W30 oil instead of the recommended 0W20 as I live in South Texas, and I do lots of stop and go driving. But I do the changes myself, so the receipts will obviously show that. Anybody know if that will void the warranty?

no, it won't void the warranty. they would have to prove the increased viscosity caused the head gasket to fail, which isn't possible.

no point. they can see if you've been tuned previously, even if you flash it back to stock.

Gotcha, thanks! So I guess I'll see if my dealership makes a fuss over it or not. Is this TSB something I should try to get addressed now even if my Integra seems to operate just fine?

I'm reading more about the TSB now, but I'm having a hard time finding some concrete links with recommendations.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. As far as tunes go. I'm waiting for KTuner to unlock mine and send it back. Once they do, I wasn't planning on putting a tune in just yet, but I did want to get rid of the auto start BS. I don't always remember to shut it off every time I get in and it drives me nuts. Do you know if using the KTuner for that void the warranty?
