I'm sure there's an explanation somewhere in this forum that I just haven't found yet:

Within the next year, we want to lower our A-Spec with Eibachs or H&Rs, and fit aftermarket 19" wheels.

At the same time we do this, we want to make sure the new 19" wheels sit more flush with the body (as we all do in this forum).

So my question is: can I accomplish this by getting wheels wider than the factory 8" and with a smaller offset than the factory +50mm? Like, a "deep dish" style wheel?

Or can this flush look only be accomplished by using spacers?

Perhaps someone has a number out there, how much to push the wheels out to sit more flush, and I'm guessing it's about 3/4" to 1" to sit flush? (19mm-25mm?)

So....

  1. Accomplish this with a wider 9" or 9.5" wheel and an offset of ___?
  2. Or a wheel of OEM 8" width (or 8.5") and ___mm spacers?

Without affecting suspension geometry and adaptive dampers, of course...!

Thanks, people!

This is a great site to use that will let you see where the wheel will sit compared to OE wheel:

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

@Frenzal , this is awesome, thanks for sharing!

So, is it safe to say it IS possible to get a more flush look by getting wider wheels with a lower offset number? And, if so, do y'all just shop around for wheels using your own parameters? Because when you use, for example, Tire Rack, OEM +1 searches result in 19" wheels of max 8.5" width, and most of the offsets are still pretty high (positive).

Or do most of you guys just get spacers?

When I see those "hellaflush" DE4s, offsets are around the +30-35 range, so that would be the number I guess, but how you achieve that is up to you. The purpose of a spacer is to visually alter the offset of an existing wheel, so what spacer you'd need is dependent on the offset of the wheel. If you're already planning on ordering wheels, buy once, cry once and get the offset you want, and then you won't need spacers. Now, if the wheels you want don't have the offset you want you may need to run spacers. Not as many people running 19s there's a few in the Fitment industries gallery to get an idea though.

15mm spacers with oem wheels is nearly fender flush. If I buy wheels, the offset willl have to be 38 or 35mm.

@nightkid3 , perfect, thanks for that info, super helpful!

I'll say right off the bat, we're DEFINITELY not going for the "hellaflush" look... we just want the wheels to approximate the fenders more than they do stock (man, WHY did Acura let the A-Spec leave the factory with such a tucked-in look??)

Perhaps what I'll do is lower the suspension first with the OEM wheels. Then go from there and determine what offset I want before ordering 19" wheels.

Really, not many people with non-Type S Integras are doing 19" wheels? I thought it was the opposite, one of the most popular upgrades.

That's a beautiful look!

For my A-Spec, I'm not sure yet HOW flush I can go with the fenders and still have enough clearance for the front wheels to turn, etc. I'm still looking around other threads to see what other A-Spec'ers have done.

I'll take anything better than stock, though!

Be careful, picture above is a DE5, not a DE4 like you.

Right! That's why I mentioned "my A-Spec." Hoping to get some fairly concrete figures from people who have gone to 19" wheels AND more flush with the fenders on their A-Specs.

I'll be using that worksheet website you sent me big time, along with the links @nightkid3 posted above.

Sure thing! understand exactly where you're coming from, the OE fitment is a joke haha. I like the idea of waiting til after the springs settle in to decide on wheels, you'll want to see what kind of gap you're working with before you finalize. It seems that 18s are just the more common size for a variety of reasons, the 19s look great when I've seen it. Pretty sure there is a Base/Aspec wheel thread if you search the forum.

I put pictures (please excuse the quality) of my Aspec after we put 25mm spacers on the stock wheels. No rubbing or anything, but now the fitment has a bit of poke , it's nothing crazy while I save up/decide the wheels I want. The photos are also stock suspension still, I have the eibach pros in my closet waiting to go on, should have much less gap after that. I found that once the wheels have the right offset the 18s don't look nearly as undersized and I personally didn't think the extra expense of the 19s would be worth it aesthetically. The Audi I was driving before this had 19s and they were kind of a PITA to maintain, but thats mostly due to the shitty roads in my area.

Ok, I came across another thread that mentioned Curva Concept wheels, and found this:

DC6 Integra Wheels | 19×8.5 +35 | Curva Concepts CFF70

Acura Integra Using offset to make the wheels more flush with the body? 1774005909767-ll

This seems to be exactly the look I'm going for, including the wheel design itself (Type S vibe). From what I'm reading, this near-flush look was accomplished just by going with a wider wheel and smaller offset (these wheels are 19" x 8.5", +35 offset). I'm going to e-mail Curva and ask if any spacers were used, but I doubt it. Also can't quite tell if the suspension is lowered or if it's stock.

Great look, nonetheless!

However, I went to the threepiece.us blog that @nightkid3 mentioned above, and I totally see the point now about staying with an 18" diameter but going wider... those cars with wider 18s in that blog look badass, and they retain some "meatiness" to the sidewalls by staying with 18".... so it's gonna be a tough decision for me, ha!

Example: Curva 18" x 9.5", +35 offset, with 265/35-18 tires... that's very, very close to the OEM diameter. Is 265 too much tire for the A-Spec, I wonder....

Well damn, I missed DE4.
That's okay, it was still nice seeing your DE5!!

This might be a good question to direct to you: if I go with a wider wheel for my DE4, like 9" or 9.5", and use a 265 tire, is that too much tire for a DE4? Coming from a person with a DE5 and stock 265 tires.....

I work for Tire Rack (web site PM) and it can be a little tough to find 18 or 19 x 9.5 wheels for our cars because we play it very conservatively with fitment, historically. But the "god fit" for almost all modern Civics and Integras is a 9.5" wide wheel, +35-+38mm offset, and 265/40-18 rubber.

If you want to see 18 or 19 x 9.5 wheels on Tire Rack's site, use a 2015 Subaru WRX STi and you'll get those options. If you choose something from TR, you can add order notes that the car you're buying for is actually an Integra A-Spec and the fitment team can verify all of it for you. I did that way back when I had a 2010 TL 6MT and got some OZ wheels for it.

Personally, I want Work Emotion CR Kai in bronze, same specs as above, +38mm offset and that gets you the concave face also. They're just a decent wait to get, unfortunately. We'll see if I have that kind of patience or just end up picking up something at cost from work. I like an Enkei Tuning wheel we have but those are also a little bit of a wait in bronze right now. But no 19" option on that one.

@toddrhodes , that's awesome, man, thank you very much for that information.... I'm genuinely surprised to discover most A-Spec'ers are staying with 18" diameters, so I love getting info like you and @nightkid3 provided... 18s are making more and more sense. Thanks! Definitely leaning towards the specs you laid out above.

Has anyone out there with 9.5" wheels & 265mm tires on their A-Spec ever said it plays havoc on the gas mileage? (Or anything significant, like the Integrated Dynamic System?)
