Yes, all valid. I apologize, as I wasn't attempting to compare a stock ITS with fully track prepped cars. I agree, there is no comparison there. As I recall, I think my 996 series GT3 weighed a bit under 3,000 pounds. It didn't have a ton of power, but that relatively light weight, a great suspension, and tremendous brakes made it a delight on track.
The 996 is killer! There's a white gt3 in my area... Man it gives me whiplash when I spot it 😅.

I agree the Integra "feels light" and does have a lightness about it, I just think it's heavier than it seems. But it does have power...

Yep, great cars. The sound of that motor at 8,500 is in my memory forever. Best brakes I ever experienced. Give me 10% better brakes over 10% more hp! Those were expensive days, and worth every penny! As Wayne Gretsky said, "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!"

You guys need to stop. I'd already zeroed in on a DC2 for my next "track/weekend" car and now I'm trying to convince myself why I shouldn't be looking at a 996.

My (unsolicited) advice, if you are going to look at a 996 series Porsche, and can afford it, look for a well maintained GT3. Any car of that generation will be way out of warranty, and the GT3 is about bullet proof. I guess most folks know, that motor is not a 911, but based on the GT1 Le Mans race car. It has a large dry sump tank and a bunch of oil pumps. They ran them tilted 90 degrees at the factory. That said, if you have a major issue, well, the repair will be an eye-watering figure. It is also not a car that most folks would endure on the street. With a lack of insulation, it's kind of like an engine bolted to a beer can, so interior conversation is a challenge. But, as long as the motor is running, there are better things to hear! If you do it, I can promise a life-changing experience.

Well. Since we are issuing unsolicited advice 😂

Mf buy a new 911! Just fuck everything. The college fund, the mortgage, your relationship with your spouse. None of those things can take a turn at over 1.5 G’s! And I bet their 0-60 is slower than the 911 too!
