I was gonna ask the same thing Josh25 brought up.

Modern Spare kits are a little pricy, but it's all there - plug and play.

I'm hoping for a sale this Labor Day, but would also like to know if anyone here has bought one yet.

Went the 2020 RLX route. Rim 42700-TX4-A51. Lug Nuts 90304-TK4-A01 (5), ball seat lugs for rim match. Continental Tire SContact 115/95/R17. Same size tire used with BMW rim solution. Still working on securing rim in wheel well, will use adhesive.

Just wondering if you test fitted this spare to your DE5 because when I search that part number for the spare it appears to be for 5x114 Hondas/Acuras.

I bought a compact spare from EZ Spare Wheel, and it works fine. The first one they sent did not fit because they didn't have the correct bolt pattern for the Type S in their system. They sent a 5X114, and 5X120 is correct. The OE lug nuts will probably be incorrect for most after-market spare wheels (ball vs conical base). I have straps to secure it in the car, but I don't use it around town as it and the jack kit do take up a fair amount of space. But it will give some peace of mind for trips.

Yeah my thing is, I want it to fit under the cover. Looks like the BMW one is the only way to get it flush.

That would be ideal, but I trust the straps to secure the spare, and it also provides a perfect space to fit the jack kit under the strap. I could have gone with a smaller wheel, with the plan to use the spare only on the rear. But when I think of all the possible scenarios for changing a tire, I don't want to have to switch front-to-rear, too much time for something undesirable to happen.
