Hey guys, I know this is a common issue now. I bought car used with the spoiler installed- however I have read that since it’s an oem accessory, and well documented, some have had luck. I was just curious how many people actually had theirs replaced under warranty? Did you guys apply a better clear coat the second time around?
I’m hesitant to take off the spoiler and deal with all that- but also feel like it could just happen again.

Mine is ceramic coated and no issues now. Jun '24 purchase. If I did have issues I'd sand it down and clear coat it with a good poly topcoat. The install isn't so bad. Just slow

Just feel like you can’t take it off without needing new zip ties tho right? I guess that’s my best bet, I mean even if I drove an hour to dealer; got a new one, would still need to properly coat it and install myself basically it seems.

Zip ties? You mean the plastic ratchets? I recall them having a pinch area to loosen them, but it's been a while.

Yeah wasn’t sure, was looking at the install vid and seems to use plastic ties of some sort, haven’t found any vids of people removing once installing which is strange; being this is a common problem with the peeling. I’d probably be less hesitant if I had installed myself.

This is what I did with the original oem stick on caps. A good ceramic coat with UV protection should do the trick. I reapplied once at about the year mark.

Hey! Just wanted to share my experience with this. Even with a ceramic coating applied, my spoiler ended up peeling anyway.

My Acura dealer was actually very understanding about the issue. They let me take the replacement spoiler to a paint shop first to have 4 additional layers of clear coat applied before the install.

Also, regarding the removal: the plastic clips aren't the real issue, it's the 3M tape. That’s the part that makes it a bit of a pain to take off. Good luck with the process!

Yeah, seems like a bitch to get all that adhesive off, and then to have to lay down more , ugh but is what it is. I think I should try and at least get it covered under warranty as well. And then clear it

Adhesive removal is fairly easy, honestly. It just takes a little patience and practice.

Use a heat gun to heat it up and then a fishing line to gently work from edges in. Add heat as necessary. Spray the working area with lots of lube (dish soap and water can work but detail sprays are best). Remove residue with a goo-off product to start, and then rubbing alcohol for final cleanup.

If done carefully you'll minimize the damage to the paint from the fishing line and cleanup.

If you really want to be careful you can use blue tape to tape off the working areas. It's what I usually do.

I've got to do this with mine too. Are there any good guides on getting the spoiler off?
