I'm looking at if it's possible to remove the OEM Acura door edge guards from my Integra without completely scratching up the exterior door paint. The edge guards were already on the car when I purchased it (2nd owner). I've found lots about installing them which seems to involve stripping some...
It has been on the car since it was bought at the dealership (it's a 2023). The weird thing is I'd expect maybe edge wear or something but it just seems to be in random spots all over. Once I get them swapped might have to go the ceramic coat path as well.
My experience is they don't finish the OEM carbon very well. Both my OEM carbon spoiler and the mirror covers are flaking in random areas. Seems to be a common issue with them. Other than that, I love the look of it. I gotta go up to the dealer sooner than later to see if they can change it out...
It's been solid for a few months for me now. Worst case scenario you can always buy a replacement harness if something were to go wrong, but I highly doubt that would happen.
Yeah I stripped off a little of the wire coating for each wire, ran a small piece of a wire from a CAT5 cable across the two, wrapped it around both and then taped them up. Has been working fine since.
Curious to see how this goes. I've been on the fence about doing the same thing. Also thinking to just do the retrofit and frankenstein the Accord & Integra mirrors together. Let us know how it goes and any issues/call outs you run into.
