Has anyone had an issue with their OEM Carbon spoiler peeling ? Ive had this for 3 years and sucks that the clear coat on the carbon was peeling for something I spent almost $850 3 years ago from Acura. I was hesitant on having it clear coat again and see if I could get another few years with the spoiler but decided to color match the spoiler instead and I know this way it will last a bit longer. I did Love the Carbon look but I decided to go for a OEM + look. While still keeping the OEM Acura accessory part. Let me know what you think

I think it looks great. I love little touches that make the car unique enough to people in the know while 99% of people would have no idea what is unique about that look.

I don't have oem, but if I notice the clear/gel remotely starting to peel I'm going to wetsand & hit it with 2k.

I like the paint match more than the carbon look. I'd personally have done a gloss to match the defuser, but the match is definitely better than stock.

This looks really good. I may order another factory spoiler and have that paint matched.

Looks good. In a world where everyone and their dog has a black lip spoiler, this is a refreshing change.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I was worried if I would like it or miss the Carbon fiber more.
I do think the color matched spoiler looks better since I have nothing else Carbon fiber on my car, closest I would think would be all the black Aspec and Acura emblems 😶 the paint job came out amazing and the body shop we deal with did me an amazing deal on removing prep paint and installing , so I lucked out.

Yeah both my spoiler and mirror caps have been peeling a bit. The spoiler much more so.

Undecided on what to do next but this looks really good.

Looks good man. Question- Did you order that car with the spoiler and did it arrive installed from the factory? Reason I ask is because I have one on order and the dealer is telling me that the spoiler is a dealer add-on accessory which will require them drilling into the trunk extra holes to accomodate the new spoiler. They are also adding an install fee. SO that OEM carbon fiber spoiler would cost me $1,200 and change on a 26' ITS that I ordered in November. Taking delivery next week (supposedly) ANy thoughts are apprecvciated? Personally I have been down this road before with different manufacturers and vehicles ordered always arrived as ordered with all accessories installed.

Very simple to install, please don't pay the dealer to install it. Even if you need help installing it , going to a body shop would charge you alot less than a dealer would. When I ordered my car from Acura, I had ordered all the accessories from the parts department but I installed them myself. Everything comes with instructions.

How bout Acura fix their peeling clear coat problem on their over priced carbon fiber trim pieces instead of their customers having to resort to fixing the issue?

I implore my other forum members to contact Acura and file a complaint about the carbon fiber trim pieces. We should not be required to clear coat prior to installation unless stated so on the sales page description. Nor should we have to hand wash only. I live in New England it gets cold here in the winter. If enough people complain Acura will make the manufacturer make necessary improvements to prevent this from reoccurring in the future. “The squeaky wheels get the grease.”
