Hi all,

want to start a thread about intercoolers and I am sure there’s already one out there that exist. I am currently considering upgrading the intercooler from my DE5. Most popular intercooler for our platform I think is the PRL IC. But I am so torn between PRL/HKS/PWR(whole different price category, not sure if this is needed for what I use the car for) the difference between bar and plate vs tube and fin design. I don’t plan on tracking the car, if anything just once or twice a year. This is my daily drive, getting to and from work incredibly spirited. My plan is to be around 500hp. Currently leaning towards PRL as they are super popular and Drob also runs it lol.

please, any insight will be helpful.
P.S. my stock intercooler is also absolutely beat to shit so I figured it was time.

Thank you!

Thank you, very helpful info, but no a lot of feedback from users that have used the product first hand, kinda want to see folks that have upgraded intercoolers already and what they like and dislike

Right - just shared it as a source for technical details.

It would be nice to also have a list of intercoolers that are confirmed to fit the DE5, I imagine most fl5 ones do but it would be nice to know for sure.

Yeah, like you said I would imagine most fits both vehicles. I know PRL/HKS/PWR/Wagner will all fit.

Nice! Why is the lead time so ridiculous? Who did you get it from? I am torn between PRL and HKS lol.

There is not much to react to with an aftermarket intercooler. It will prolong your ability to stay in it for longer on track and that’s about it.

I have the PRL intercooler in black which blends into the bumper. I value the appearance enhancements equal to the performance gains.

For your application I'd recommend the option from PRL. HKS and PWR both make nice intercoolers as well but there would be no reason to expect a difference in performance for your use case.

Agreed! The black one does look more sleek. Only worried about rocks chipping it and causing tiny white dots on the IC. Prolly will install the intercooler guard when I do it.
