Hi all,

I recently noticed a swoosh/whoosh sound when I shift from 1st to 2nd gear.
- The sounds is present while moving the shift stick (with clutch fully down) from 1st to 2nd. Once the gear in 2nd and I release the clutch there is no swoosh/whoosh sound.
- No swoosh/whoosh sound present when I shift from 2nd-->3rd or other gear nor when I downshift.
- If I shift at slow speed, 1500-2000 RPM, I don't hear the sound. I normally shift around 3500 (I consider it's normal driving), and that's what I hear the sound.

I have the following mods:
- PRL HVI
- Acuity Shifter Cable Bushings
- SiriMoto N1 - Clutch Master Cylinder CMC Damper Delete / Bypass Kit
- PRL Steel Braided Clutch Line
- Amsoil Synchromesh MTF Transmission Fluid

Appreciate your thoughts.

Possibly just the blow-off. It may be especially noticeable because you have the HVI installed which will make those sounds more prominent typically.

I was going to say the same and the reason it "only happens 1->2" is because the wind and road noise is louder the faster you go in combination with the intensity of the shift. Are you shifting as hard/quickly at the top of second where you're at highway speeds?

I also installed a CMC damper delete and ss clutch line. After I did, I was getting a whoosh sound when shifting above 3000 rpm, sometimes when down shifting. I did not notice any performance issues or leaks. I'm guessing the noise is coming from vibrations in the clutch line.

It happens in city and highway. I tried to shift hard/quickly and slow, it happens in both cases.
I hear you that this noise might be covered by wind or road noise as the car goes faster. I also tried to shift from 1-->2 and immediately 2-->3 (keep the speed more or less the same). No sounds from 2-->3.

Honestly I posted something similar recently about hearing a louder engagement from 1-2. I acutally hear it less when I go up to 3k or higher, and hear it more at lower RPMs. Someone said its normal and just the countershaft and the way the transmissions are made.

i had the same noise for the first 15k miles. Even took it to the dealer because I thought something was wrong. it eventually went away. I think maybe it was the PCV valve or something. almost sounded like a faint whirring/whistle.

but since you the have the PRL HVI, you may just be hearing the intake.

lol, i think you were quoting me. I'm cryptolime on other honda forums. either civicx, civicxi, civic11forums, or reddit. i don't remember. but, yea, i've read from multiple people that say it's the countershaft that clunks around, especially when shifting at low rpms. I wonder if a thicker MTF would help.

I doubt it's the intake. Intake sounds are completely different.

Attaching recordings. It's zip because the site doesn't allow to upload .m4a or .wav files.
ITS_swoosh_1.m4a (or .wav) - the swoosh sounds is between seconds 6 and 7.
ITS_swoosh_2.m4a (or .wav) - the swoosh sounds is between seconds 3 and 4.

If you can't hear it with laptop speakers, please try headphones. I can hear it with AirPods.

i don't hear anything abnormal. I can barely hear it but sounds normal for these cars.

i think i can hear it in this video too, but more clearly. sounds like the dampers in the suspension.

also, don't drive like this guy just dumping the clutch pedal...

Hearing recorded noises is hard. I can't hear anything special with the video you shared.
I am not saying that my recording is any better :) But I hear it since I know it...
