i did not make the jump to a type s but i currently own a 6MT aspec and owned a fk8 for 5 years.
if the choice was between an aspec or a type s, i would go for the type s if you want a fun car. the Aspec is decently fun daily driver with great fuel economy but as a second car ... meh. the type s is a tier above.

i 100% agree. a-spec is not worth doing any performance mods. I would also absolutely avoid this route.I would absolutely avoid this route. Nothing against folks with the A-spec who've started modding- maybe you had an A spec before the Type S came into being and didn't feel like upgrading, sure I get it- but to start with the goal of modding in mind, I think the A-spec is a terrible move because you can't spend the difference in cost between an A spec and a Type S and have equivalent performance gains. I'll die on that hill.
