Anybody else having this issues with the stick-on wide body? My DE5 only has 3500 miles. I feel the build quality is awful. I also notice the door and trunk doesn't line up flush with the body.

You're just looking to closely. Lots of stuff doesn't line up that well.

I ended up with the Liquid Carbon color and because it's darker, it kind of hides the areas that don't line up perfectly. Kind of blends with the shadows where body panels meet. I'm just lucky in that regard.

If you look at the car as a whole it's pretty good.

Yeah, I can live with the unflushness but the stick-on widebody is concerning. I expect more from Acura especially it's considered a luxury vehicle. Is there any adhesive I can use to have the widebody completely stick onto the body ?

I guess that 3M. I think there's also a clip or two involved so not sure how easy it will be to remove it. Maybe it's just not lined up exactly right. Maybe all of our cars are like that too.

I'm curious if you're right regarding all DE5 having this issue.

No, not all have the issue.

I took mine to the dealer and they replaced one side, but didn't align it well so the gap was crooked. I went back and had them do it again. There's no clip on the door one. There IS a clip on the fender one. They come repainted from factory, and yes they use a 3m type tape adhesive.

Part of the issue is the bend in the plastic on some factory parts. Some straight align, some need a bit of flex. My first two pieces were more flexy. Third aligned with zero flex. A year later and 9k miles, it's still holding fine.

Agreed there are a lot of quality issues. I've stopped thinking of this make as a "luxury" brand and started thinking of it as a prettier Honda civic. At this point I've sound deadened and foamed 3 doors (still need to do one rear, but it takes time), under the rear seats, the entire hatch, and the dealer did my driver b pillar. I still need to do one door, the passenger b pillar(horrible rattle), and I'm debating on the floor. It's much better sound wise, but it's still not comparable to other cars "in its class". It also has much sharper steering, better steering feedback, better brake feedback, a more agile turn in, and a much more engaging input/output feel. So what I'm saying is, we win some we lose some... Pick your battles.

For reference you're pointing out imperfection in a a 50-55k car, the average new car price now. When there are 60-70 heck 100K cars that have bigger fitment issues. Like the GT350 known for its rear bumper drooping down from the body, or loaded Tesla Plaid's that have been called "panel fitment of a 90's GM product". Even Lambo, Ferrari and Porsche are now well known for REALLY thin paint with orange peel.

it's sad but this type of fitment is just expected now. Some dealers will work with you to fix, others look at you like a nit-picking nutcase.

The door and trunk are minor though and can easily be re-aligned by the dealer for a fast job at an autobody shop or yourself even. Should see some of the weird gaps on my 50K Mustang. And thats 50K in PRE-COVID inflation. I even had some paint imperfections I had to get fixed.

Its just the rear, and just the door is stick on, the fender part uses clips They would have had to re-mold the rear door for a low production car which would have jacked up the price even more. I am surprised that there is no clips for the door though, they didn't even bother drilling holes to keep the piece on.

It doesn't need it. The automotive 3m stuff they use is wildly strong. The adhesive on my mirror covers is stronger than the plastic it's adhering to. The fender part uses one clip as far as I know and the main hold is still the 3m stuff.

Out of all the budget build quality stuff on this car, the stick on fenders are my lowest concern. You could just go full bmw M car and rip them off the doors 😅

Don't look close if you care about fit and finish. One of my coworkers pointed out a very minor mismatch between the rear bumper and rear quarter where they meet up, and I was like "you think that is bad?" before showing him some of the real glaring issues.

It does boggle my mind that Acura went with tack on rear fender flares on the Integra Type S while the CIvic Type R got all new rear quarter and rear door stampings. Somehow they could justify the cost on the CTR, perhaps because it sells in higher volume and in more markets.

The rear bumper/diffuser and front bumper looks amazing but the fender flares front and back don’t look good and I think the side profile of the A Spec looks better on this car.
