What are people using to monitor their oil temps on track or during hard driving?

I wish this De5 had a LogR type screen set up like the FL5 has to have gauges up on the center screen. There has to be a way to unlock that feature on the De5 since the hardware is the same between the two chassis. I'd love the S2k style horizontal tach too...

^Pretty much this.

It's been a topic that's popped up from time to time, "converting" the DE5 dash to the FL5. As of this moment, the only true way to accomplish this is to trade in for an FL5. It would be cool to see someone try but buckle up for anyone brave enough to attempt it.

Honestly, the DE5 is a poor choice for a hardcore track car. It is "track competent" for sure- but I'd personally pick something else to chase lap times with. @Zygrene was our champion in this regard and I still highly encourage you to check out and definitely subscribe to his channel if you haven't already- not just good for DE5 content but just automotive content in general he's one of the only CarTubers I still watch regularly- although I did see one of his latest videos where he has his car up for sale so no new DE5 track content incoming unless he has some old vids hidden up his sleeve.

AFAIK he was not monitoring oil temps, unless the Cobb does that.

I’ve no desire to monitor estimated oil temp numbers that can be off as much as 20-30f when swapping in 5w30

I’d rather a proper oil temp sensor in the oil pan. It’s truly the only way.

How does a temp sensor in the sandwich plate differ from one in the oil pan?
U want the oils resting temp. That’s gonna be in the pan. Sandwich plate = higher temps

honestly tho dude. Who gives a fuck? Even if it’s a sandwich mounted temp sensor, at least U got real numbers. Unlike the rest of us with our imaginary numbers

but yeah. Want accuracy? Put that bitch in the oil pan bro

Thank you for the input guys. And thanks @optronix for the Zygrene suggestion, I've been catching up on his videos.

It's crazy to me that a car as track-capable as the FL5 wouldn't have a direct oil temp sensor...

Not sure if true but someone here mentioned the European fl5 has a temp sensor in the pan. If true can’t be too involving to pin that in with the euro oil pan? U go first bro, I have faith in you.
