That was the plan but I chickened out as the cheap headliner was creasing easily. I kinda want to be armed with more information before I try again so I'm not just pulling randomly and then have a permanently creased headliner. That said, I looked up prices of replacement headliners and it's surprisingly inexpensive.

When I had my roof done in black ppf they had a template/cutout for the fin, but the issue was the hole in the roof portion of the ppf left too big of a gap so it would have left a weird line around it. I decided to just leave it red. That said, if you were JUST doing the antenna, the black ppf route would accomplish what you're looking for without the headache of messing with the liner and everything else up there.

I've taken out the liner in other cars and always found it to be a pain. It's just time consuming. The factory liner on my car has a few creases around the sunglass holder. I would imagine if it's creasing from a little movement on you, it might crease a lot more when you really pull on it.

I've also seen carbon covers... You could theoretically get one of those and paint it with a black color match paint of your choice.

Yeah, I considered all those options, but as you said, and given I have a white car, it's always possible the base will stick out like a sore thumb. I will likely eventually do black ppf on the roof too, so this would make it even more obvious if a bit of white was peeking out.

I'd rather just replace the whole unit with a factory quality painted surface.

I'm sure I'll eventually figure it out. It's just annoying. I hate doing interior work!

Found my photo of what mine looks like! It's really not noticeable, except for looking head on from above and knowing what to look for.

I agree, a black factory piece would look best.

No shade intended at all, but those lines around the edge would drive me nuts. I am majorly OCD about certain things, and couldn't give a rat's behind about others.

Agreed! They drove me nuts at first as well. I had them redo it twice. They tried a couple brands of ppf as well (some stretch more than others), but the general cutout that gets printed is a stock shape they can't modify, so it is what it is. They did offer to do it in vinyl since it can be tucked a lot more, but my goal was protection first, looks second. I decided it was close enough for now. I've meant to go back and look for a cover that adds some bulk, but just haven't gotten around to it.

And no shade taken . Requirements and goals are always personally driven!

Next time (if you already know this, my apologies and disregard) don't use a place that does precut panels. Custom everything is best - they would remove the antenna, wrap the roof without a cutout, then slice just enough material to fit the mounting bolt for the antenna through. Perfection!

This place was supposed to be top tier. It's ceramic pro film and certainly not cheap.

If I could find a place around me that actually pulled parts and tucked around corners, I agree that would have been the way to go. Only the vinyl installers around me do that.

Installed the Hybrid Racing lateral hd detent spring (didn't install the longitudinal one) and I don't think I like it. The fluidity of the 3-2 downshift is gone as it requires a more deliberate lateral pressure to overcome the stronger spring. Already I've had a couple 3-2 downshifts get rejected in-between the 2 and 4 gates. Probably gonna remove it but I'll give it a couple days to see if I just need to acclimate (not likely).

Oh, and it did nothing for the lateral play. It just masks it a bit, but the freeplay is still there, which makes sense as it's inherent to the transmission fork design.

One thing I should add for anyone going to do this job is the detent ball bearing on the end of the spring is not retained in the mechanism. In my case it fell out as soon as I removed the spring. Thankfully it caught on one of the transmission casting flanges rather than falling to the ground. Be careful!

Stitch my own steering wheel to save money. Better than stock alcantara i guess. Stitching is not too hard. Pushing in the gap on the back side is so difficult. Still haven't push it in yet. Anyone have experience with this?

PRL intake hoses just came in and I had to install them! Already have a K&N panel filter. Don't talk to me about filtration efficiency - I accept the risk (which is negligible, IMHO). Can definitely hear a bit more wooshing under load but without the loud diverter valve flutter you get with true open intakes, which just isn't my thing.

On Saturday I will be installing the PRL rear engine mount and some H&R lowering springs, then on Monday I get Phearable tuned!

You wasted no time on this car lol.

The tune by itself should make the car much more enjoyable. What I do still miss from the F87 platform are the grumbles and *bang* on throttle lift once the car builds up some boost. Was never a fan of that popcorn tune from factory though.

I know, right? Haha.

I think the tune will completely change the dynamics, not just because of the power bump, but the driveability with the rev hang reduction, improved traction control and reduced lag. I'm PUMPED. The car already is so satisfying to drive... And it's going to get better?!
