Hello,

Anyone have recommendation for tire replacement on stock rims for these qualities:

- reduce tire noise
- reduce vibrations
- absorb bumps better

Understandably, I'm expecting a loss in grip/performance.

Thanks

If you just want to throw a softer 30 profile on the stock 19s, I think most people in that situation move to the DWS06+, but you can expect a pretty significant loss in performance / feedback.

Alternatively / additively...

Throw some killmat over the rear fenders in the hatch and under the rear seats. 🤣 (seriously, though... it works wonders.)

Move to a 35 profile tire instead of 30. If you're on stock suspension, you should have no issues rubbing (beyond needing to update the ECU to appropriately calculate distance / speed via Hondata / Cobb). If you're lowered or don't have access to / don't want to tune, you can move to 18s.

I switched to DWS too. When the tires were brand new, I was losing traction even in the 2nd gear, and I was thinking "oh, what have I done" lol. After a little bit, it gained grip. Must be brand new = no grip. I don't even lose traction in the 1st gear now.

When going into my driveway in an angle, the OEM tires used to have lots of shock, which I was thinking it's the stiff suspension. But after switching to DWS, that shock is gone, so the OEM tire must have been really stiff (It was October).

Yeah it takes a heat cycle or two to get a tire to "wear in". For more sensitive track tires it's very beneficial to get them hot once and then let them sit unloaded for 24 hrs. To a lesser degree, the same applies to more street oriented tires, but less sensitive and smaller margin of benefit.

Personally I've had poor results with conti dws getting loud after some wear vs Michelin psas4 but that depends on quite a few things. My road conditions are very poor around here so the marginally softer Michelin tend to do better in my situation.

Also fun, the general gmax as tires are the downstream last gen conti dws tire. Conti owns general so the trickle down tech is real and can be beneficial. I replaced some dws05 with a gmax as05 and other than tread pattern they were basically identical tires.

I switched to the DWS06+ and wouldn't say I've gotten a significant loss of performance on the street. It's inferior for track use fo sho, but quite good on the street IMHO.
How would you say noise compares to stock tires?

Yea I'm not trying to get a tune or different rims.

Is there an advantage to take width to 275 or 285? Does that require any tune or other modification?

Definitely improved but I wouldn't say they are silent either. The Michelins tend to hum and produce a beat frequency at higher speeds as they warm up. pretty normal for a summer performance-focused tire.

The softer DWS produce noise too, but it's not as droney and doesn't produce a beat frequency like the Michelins.

The only advantage is sidewall protection for the rim. 275 and 285 are fairly oversized for the weight of the car otherwise, so it's extra drag unless you have the alignment and use case to make use of the additional rubber.

The pilot sport all season 4 seems to be a great tire. My dad switched to those on his CT4 V Blackwing. That’s what I would get if I switched to all seasons.

If it really matters to you, that's your biggest limiting factor.

I would just bite the bullet and go down to 18's. In fact, I have, twice! I have a 18" set for spring-summer-fall and a 18" set for winter. Where you're at, you'll only need one set though.

You can try to maximize ride comfort on the 19's but at the end of the day, you cannot beat physics. The 19's just don't give you enough sidewall for a comfortable and quiet ride.

I have been pretty happy with the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 in terms of sound and ride comfort while also having decent dry grip, but they are on 18" wheels and I wouldn't expect that to translate to 19's. They don't even come in the OEM size anyway.

Do you it inside or outside?

Inside. Quite a few on this forum have documented it. You can search for "Killmat", "Sound Deadening", or "Acoustic Treatment" to get some good insight / review feedback.

I had the OEM tires only for 900 miles. But the noise was the first difference I noticed. It's noticeably quieter.

I have correction to the grip. The first gear didn't lose traction on DWS when it was in the 80s. Today was in the 50s and the first gear was losing tractions above 5000 rpm. The OEM tires probably would too at this temp though.
