Hi eveyone,

Seldom do I stall my ITS, but when I do, it takes multiple starting attempts to try to get it started again. The starter does not activate after pushing the start button. Only happens when I stall it. Does anybody else experience this?

I don't want to come across as talking shit but you said this seldom happens, but it sounds like it's happened with such frequency between you and your wife that you've noticed a pattern already.

Here's me stalling my car now when I leave work today :p

When the car can’t start at an intersection and there are many cars behind you, it’s a problem. I have been driving manual for quite a few years. Sometimes I am too easy on the clutch. Always keep the RPMs very low when engaging the clutch. Bad habit. I think I’ll check with my dealer to find out what the problem is.

I also hate to sound like a pompous assface but I have never stalled this car. Even when test driving one after not driving a manual for about 8 years. I think this is quite possibly the easiest manual I have ever driven. Don't get me wrong I have come close a couple times when the music is blaring and I am not paying attention, but never actually killed it.

Bringing it to the dealership is the best course of action though. I used to have this same situation happen in my 1998 Eclipse GS-T back in the day. I had all of the performance goodies on it but it ran like ass because I had it vented to atmosphere. If I killed it at a light which happened every so often it would take several tries to get it started back up again. I ended up getting rid of the car as I didn't want the hassle anymore.

It almost sounds like there is an ignition issue or a sensor issue not recognizing the clutch is pushed in all the way.

Once again sorry to sound like an ass. Trying to help. ;)

I've learned, the hard way, to give it a bit more gas than what I normally would have to do with the older manual vehicles I've owned in the past.

It's not necessary to engage the brake if the clutch is depressed.
My car tells me to do so in the dash if I attempt to start it without both pedals being depressed! Maybe a Canadian model thing?

It will start. Depending on circumstances, you might not want to stop the car before starting it. If rolling in the right direction, just depress the clutch and start it.

There is a fail safe in it. If you should happen to stall release the clutch all the way and then depress the clutch all the way and it should start back up without having to push start button

I'll say it... should've bought a Tesla.

A pal of mine had a Saturn Ion that would regularly lose electric power steering at random times while driving, and the fix was to key off and start it again. It was so common he'd clutch in and do this while the car was still rolling, at highway speeds. Freaked us the f out the first time then it just became routine. In that case, having to hold the brake definitely wouldn't have helped.

You do have to press the brake if you are unlocking the parking brake.

EV's are garbage.
I kind of wonder why someone would do the above while rolling on the highway? Power steering is nice, but it isn't something that you 100% need to operate the vehicle. You can still drive without power steering it's just not a great time. I would imagine it's about as bad as driving a Saturn Ion. :D

I think the issue is stalling on drive off, so the parking brake isn't engaged. (If it is, then you've found your problem!)
