I've got a bone stock type S whose bumper I will be taking off in order to install the illuminated A badge (got black badges all around so I wanted it to match)

I was thinking maybe I should go ahead and do the intercooler and chargepipes while I'm in there. My hesitation are as follow:

- I have no other modifications and likely won't be doing anything aggressive until the warranty runs out
- piggybacking off the note above, I am aware of Magnusson-Moss but I feel like the theory is better than the practice. That is, should any issue arise, I don't want there to be any questions it's the car, and not something I did.

Needless to say, warranty is pretty important so I'm leaning on just doing the badge for now and revisit this at some point in the future. Without any other significant mods, I'm not even sure if the i/c + chargepipes are "worth it"

Thoughts?

I went down this same thought process. My conclusion is that I was modding for the sake of modding because an intercooler and charge pipes would not benefit me in any way as I don't plan to make use of those mods on a regular basis.

I figured that if I ever did make those mods, taking the bumper off is fairly low effort anyway.

Of all the mods, those are probably the lowest bang for the buck. It's one of those things where you've done everything else you can do, and you just want to be "Full bolt on"

As someone just said in another thread, 15 HP increase for Intercooler, Intake and charge pipes. Just wait until you're ready to tune, and do everything else first, then decide if you want to eek out those last 10-15 HP.

Intake, Downpipe, tune is where it's at IMO.

Agreed. The main advantage either of these charge pipes really give besides a little bit more flow, is that they won’t stretch like the factory rubber ones can over time leading to a boost leak.

@koatic did a dyno pull with the HPS though and pulled 18 HP and 14TQ.

You won't see any gains from this, I was more worried about the fmic because I live in a hot climate and thought it would be good to get ahead of the heat thats coming this summer.

Thanks everybody. I think I'll stick to just doing the emblem for now. I think once the warranty is up and I'm willing to do a tune, I'll add this to the list of bolt ons.

I have videos of installing the intercooler which included the front emblem on mine..
Beware of the side clips labeled incorrectly in the instructions..
you can see my video below to see the clip I broke if this helps you.
was only about 4 dollars to replace but it is required for bumper to be flush.
my HPS charge pipe install and dyno numbers vids on the channel too if your curious about the charge pipes.

Nice video.
Interesting prl is now shipping with that gasket. I purchased one of the first batch runs and at that time they said reuse the factory gasket and cut that tap off .

I got the 2nd batch and it still said to reuse the gaskets but came with new ones.
