Alas, it isn't. I'm thinking of trading my '21 Civic Type R, and just talked to a dealer in Philly - jacked up the price to $73k + change. 'Supply & demand' he says...but they have the extended warranty and tire/wheel warranty tacked on, among other things. I would get the extended from Hyannis Acura at just over cost, but I cant find a dealer to get the dang car.

Anyone know an HONEST Acura dealer in PA? There aren't many to choose from, unfortunately...

Yeah, I'm looking. Most dealers seem to only have A-spec or Tech. Can you still build one or has that ship sailed?

I don't think even the initial options were for a "built one", but instead they did reservations for preplanned output. It's not a very complex build option list... For example you could never get a red one with a white interior. The other items are all dealer installed, so every car is very cookie cutter.

You definitely can't "order one" with a dealer today. I've tried.

Honestly, you could go further away pretty easily. I've bought cars on the opposite side of the country and either shipped them, paid a courier to drive them (then drive my trade back- I paid one way only), or flown in to pick them up. The last option I had a dealer last minute try to jump price on me because "are you really not going to buy after flying in?" and I laughed in their face, walked out, and sent a lawyer their way with a "bait and switch" threat to pay for my flights and rental cars. I recommend having them send signed offers from now on for any of those approaches.

You could also find a car elsewhere and go to a local dealer and tell them to go get it if they want your business. I've done that too... My wife wanted a blue crosstrek in 2014 and didn't want the grey or orange they had on the lot. I found a blue one in Texas while sitting at the GMs desk and told them I would go buy that one instead. They panicked and said they'd have it shipped in within 5 days ?‍.

How are they jacking up a $55K MSRP to get to $73K ? Doesn't even seem physically possible. Not to mention it's beyond reasonable. In terms of build quality, this car is already a stretch at $55K in my opinion.

I paid $2K under MSRP for my 2025 ITS in December in Virginia. One dealer got close to $3K under but was worse on my trade so the -$2K deal ended up being better overall.

The guy didn't seem very interested in selling, but willing to find a sucker who will pay that price. I emailed him back and told him that eventually, he'd probably hook someone, but if he was willing to forego the ADM, I'd be quite interested.

He's probably laughing.

There are loads of blue cars around, just look on CarGurus and do a search within a couple hundred miles of your location. Back in the markup days they were telling me blue/orchid cars and cars with red interiors were "special", but when I shopped again 6 months later they got me a blue/orchid car right away, $2K under MSRP.

The other thing to keep in mind is that paint/clearcoat quality on these cars is abysmal, so if a dealer is acting like some colors are special, they are grossly out of touch with the quality of their product. Personal preference matters, but until they can put out a good quality paint job none of the colors should be considered "special".

I do think dealers charging ADM and stacking on extras are still living in the Covid era and haven't adjusted to reality. It probably means there is a small group of clueless buyers who still fall for that stuff. You can ask to see the contract for the dealer-installed options and by law it will have a small checkbox on there where a customer has to accept/decline. I ran into one dealer that had put $2200 of meaningless options on an ITS and claimed they couldn't remove them because they were already installed. I asked to see the contract and they stopped communicating with me. Went from 6+ calls/emails a day to zero. They will just wait for another customer to come along who doesn't know any better. And that's the rub, you don't have to accept the options but they don't have to sell *you* a car.

The car I bought eventually, elsewhere, I had the dealer add mud flaps, winter mats, and trunk mat and haggled to get the prices the same as what I could find online. When I was doing the paperwork they had a form added to the contract where I had to acknowledge that these options were on the vehicle, accept/decline them, and it had some language about adjusting the Monroney label (window sticker).

Yeah - I've found a few so far...much closer than Florida. It's just a sales dude pulling his sales dude crap. Someone will eventually fall for it...just not me. I emailed him back and told him if he'd like to remove all ADM...I'd be interested. Otherwise, I can find it elsewhere.

Only special color is Tiger Eye Pearl and discontinued. All others are batch ran and then shipped.

I just purchased mine from Smail Acura (Greensburg, PA) for $1300 under MSRP. They also have two other Type S's (red and black) available. If you want a blue one, I spoke with Crown Acura (Cleveland) who has has one and were selling at MSRP.

Yeah, there should be no ADM in PA. These are sitting on the lots. I don't see any blues in inventory within 250 miles of my home in the Philly suburbs however. They do have black ones.

BTW, I love my Apex Blue so you might want to hold out. My son has the black and it's definitely harder to keep clean.

BTW, I love my Apex Blue so you might want to hold out. My son has the black and it's definitely harder to keep clean.

I think with the blue, red, and TEP you should really see them in person before buying. I really wanted blue/orchid until I saw it in person and it just wasn't the blue for me. It's nice, but a bit too electric for my taste. Also maybe it was just the one I saw in person, but the orange peel on the blue was really bad and noticeable from 15ft away. That's not to say my red is tremendously better. The orange peel on it is still atrocious and the clear is stupid soft. I gently bumped a door on a piece of oak board in my garage while putting my kid in the car and it immediately took paint off the edge... I regret not ppfing the doors or at least door edges too now...
