Last month I traded in my 25 A-Spec for a 24 Type-S. When I initially purchased the car, everything was functioning properly. However, after about a week of ownership, the HUD suddenly stopped displaying correctly. I parked the car one evening with the HUD working normally, and when I started it the next morning, the HUD no longer appeared in my normal line of sight.

I can still see the HUD projecting if I look at an extremely sharp angle (ducking down below the steering wheel), and it's displaying accurate real-time information at that angle. I've already tried adjusting the height settings through the full range, changing brightness levels, and toggling the HUD on/off, but none of these made any difference.

Based on how it's behaving, it appears the HUD projector is aimed at an incorrect angle or the internal mechanism has shifted position.

Has anyone experienced this with their Type-S? Can anyone confirm if this would be covered under the original factory warranty? I'd prefer to try any remaining troubleshooting steps before scheduling dealer service if there's anything else worth attempting.

Thanks in advance!

Mine has a SLIGHT tilt to the right. It’s very slight but I do notice it. I just hate the idea of them taking the whole dash apart to fix it. If it’s as bad as you say, I’d take it in and see what they can do.

Kind of an "out there" suggestion, but why not try rebooting like you would a PC: disconnect the battery and see if it resets and realigns once you've reconnected the battery?

I agree that I don't like the idea of them taking the whole dash apart. What confuses me the most is how it went from functioning normally to this overnight. I'm not sure how exactly it works, but it's as if it's stuck or unable to move to its intended position. I'll probably have them take a look and at least get it documented under warranty. While I do like the HUD, I'm not sure it's worth any serious work if it requires major disassembly.

I haven't tried this yet, but I think it's a good idea that's worth a shot. I'll give it a go this week and see if anything happens. It seems like the system itself is working fine, it's just projecting at the wrong angle, so hopefully a full reset might recalibrate it.

Keep in mind that after you do this, you'll get a bunch of error lights on your dashboard. They should all go away after a short drive and power cycling your car. Your radio and dashboard settings should all be retained, but the HUD will be reset to default settings. Also your wireless charger will default back to ON if you had it turned off.

I can't remember if you can adjust the HUD horizontally? I know we can vertically.

The HUD in my car became pixilated over night and the right digit of the speed was not showing. They replaced by HUD under warranty. It was a lengthy fix but I had a loaner and the new one is working perfectly.

Mine does too and feel like it wasn’t before.
