Painted or not, I can't quite understand how this could have happened. Have you contacted PRL?

Glad it wasn't the turbo I would have been hurting. Just paid car off same day too.

It is the main stream intake. Hopefully PRL can give a statement on over tightening issue from user vs professional install.

That's pretty wild - how many miles did you have on that intake with it painted?

I've had pretty great support whenever I've emailed them

2,000 miles on the intake after paint. I called and email prl about the hvi showing a check engine light after installing the intake. Nobody contacted me anything about troubleshooting the issue. Luckily I knew a civic owner who had this happened fixed the issue up.

It looks imploded as opposed to exploded.

I am no expert but to me that would imply the engine was sucking more than the intake could supply.

Any chance there's a blockage or bottle neck upstream?

Everything was connected correctly. I do however have the inlet pipe connected also. The car is not tune but driver setting was in sport.

Did you check with PRL before painting to see what paints compatible? Some paints react and can fatigue the plastics.

No didn't asked PRL about that. Never happened before on painted parts from a professional painter. You may be right on the paint though.

This doesn't make sense... The intake should never see pressures high enough to blow out the airbox unless something blew the fuck up. Did it crack open completely or is it delaminating somehow? Was the filter element intact or did it blow out too? If the filter is good then you should be ok since the clean side looks to be intact, and the cracking is only on the dirty side.

Also, you're missing a bolt on the MAF sensor...

Acura Integra Exploded Prl intake. 1748471613196-sc

i would contact PRL to see about warranty coverage. they may even give you some freebies if you send it back to them so they can inspect it.

it looks like the crack started where the "P" in "PRL" was embossed into the plastic. could be a manufacturing defect. The "R" and the "L" also looks to be cracked. this looks like a problem with their manufacturing process.
