I dropped off my car for an annual dyno run for TT and they just keep tripping abs and going into limp mode.

I gave them the pedal dance for vsa off... Still tripped abs.

They looked for the fuse and apparently abs and pcm are in the same fuse cluster so that's a no go.

I told them to try disconnecting the rear wheel speed sensors and haven't hear back on that one yet.

Is there a trick I'm missing? Anyone else have successful results?

Are you sure it's going into limp mode, or just an error state? Errors on the dash while completing successful full power output dyno pulls are pretty typical.

It's pulling power on subsequent runs.

A solid 40-50whp drop from the first run.

I also did contact my tuner (who's in another state) and he says typically the pedal dance is all that's needed. Sounds like he's on a mustang dyno though, and the requirement for 2wd cars for my club TT state dynojet only. I wouldn't think there's a big difference in methodology. Obviously the dynojet reads 10% lower, but otherwise a roller is a roller, no?

Yeah, no go with pedal dance or anything else. They just keep throwing codes left and right for abs and it goes into limp mode. They weren't even able to get past 260whp yesterday on subsequent runs.

They think it needs to be on a two roller dyno, but that would be an issue for TT classing and DQ the car.

Has anyone successfully dynoed one of these cars on a dynojet?

That’s crazy. I have less than 5kmiles and have done three separate dyno days. No issues ever

I know in third the wheels just spin. Definitely has to be in fourth.

I dyno them normally and even with codes they put down power.
Any thoughts on what could cause the abs trip and limp mode?

I know my car has been the "unicorn" pos since week 2 of ownership, but I've never had a car go into limp mode for a dyno run šŸ˜‘

Not to be patronizing, lmao -- just throwing some ideas out there:
Are they having the same issues on the stock map?
Are you confident they're executing the pedal dance appropriately?

The traction stability button. Did U hold it to soft disable? That’ll turn off some of those sensors so U don’t get all those weird lights. Make sure U do that.

my GTI used to go nuts too till I figured that out

I gave them the pedal dance and instructions and confirmed with them they were seeing the "off" and flashing orange. I did not see it myself though. They did also try pulling the rear wheel speed sensors.

Good question on the stock map. I'm not 100% certain. After 5 hrs of attempts and knowing they weren't going to charge me for it, they wanted to stop. Totally understandable.

I'm going to get it over to another dynojet shop and see how that goes. I'll be there for that one, and I'll pay hourly to be able to troubleshoot more. If that doesn't work I'll try and get it on a mustang dyno to see what happens, and then if it works with a 2 roller I can request the tt director to make an exception. He can only approve regionally, but this car won't be competitive nationally anyway so no point in spending the time or money on it there.

That won't do it. There's no long press to disable like there is in the type r. Pedal dance is our equivalent. Which I will add is the most annoying thing in the world when you're rushing around to get to grid.

Correct. Long press doesn’t totally turn it off. It’s just a mode where intervention is less in your face. I still do it and I never get any weird lights or odd behavior on the rollers.

maybe hit a spot with a Puerto Rican flag up? I go to a rotary shop owned by a friend. And sure, they make fun of my pistons but it’s all in good fun.

That's a dual roller though. Dynojet does not have a two axle roller I'm aware of.

For nasa tt and st classing 2wd cars must use a dynojet. Awd cars use the mustang dyno and then apply a 10% power reduction since they read high (or dynojet reads low?). It's just a way they're trying to maintain SOME consistency among cars.

If I can get a normal run on a mustang dyno I'll see if the tt director will allow it to run with a 5% penalty instead... It'll still be way outgunned in tt4, though, since the way it sits it needs 348 AVERAGE whp (taken across the 4 peak power measures) to be a strong fit... The way turbo cars peak this means more like 370whp+ on a dynojet! That's like 411whp on a mustang dyno and it's just way too much for this car.

The smarter track choice for me would be to just make a proper splitter, gut it to drop min competition weight with driver to 3000lbs, run fender venting, move to a faster tire that's 266mm or less, cage it, fire suppression, and keep power stock. But at that point I'd just buy another z, a c5/c6 vette, or a cayman racecar and just send it. This car is a road going manual that fits kids in the back for me... Probably next year it will become a 4th car. I need another racecar, and I might have a line on one that's 5x the car for 1/3rd the cost šŸ˜…
