Ya. It’s definitely a consideration. But I got this system for free and I kept the stock exhaust in case I got tired of it. Stock was too quiet for me at times.Good luck with yours OP...the ITS and my departed Ford Focus RS are 2 vehicles I had zero desire to f with the exhuast note...jmho
Supposedly 3” it lost power stock so they stuck with 2.75” - don’t have an opinion on that. He did mention they went with larger diameter for their HRC system.I like the double wall tips. Not a fan of the small outside and larger inner tips like the FL5. Also why only 2.75" pipe? Also it dosent welded flanges but the cheaper crimp style connections, you can see the bolts hanging down.
Those clamps just look cheap. That whole exhaust was a slip fit right? You had to cut your exhaust to install?RE: Flanges
The $8500 Akrapovic system I had on my M2C was slip on and I never had any issues on it. If the system is well engineered I wouldn't hesitate to buy.
IF the system is well engineered.
It was the Evolution system so it included the mid pipe and the rear box too. The only flanges were from the front cats to the mid pipe, the rest was slip fit with clamps. Those clamps just look cheap. That whole exhaust was a slip fit right? You had to cut your exhaust to install?
Good call on the clamps. This photo was while they had the car and still making adjustments. It was the Evolution system so it included the mid pipe and the rear box too. The only flanges were from the front cats to the mid pipe, the rest was slip fit with clamps.
For the Evolution system, install doesn't require cutting up the exhaust but if you were doing only the back box you'd need to cut the factory mid pipe right behind the resonator.
I also have the Eisenmann system which is also slip fit BUT the sections were welded together. Never got to install the Eisenmann.
I get what you mean about appearance though. I usually rotate the clamps so they're visually out of the way (and not prone to catching errant debris).
I feel the slip fit is a.coay savings method. It also allows for a large margin of error on fitment. This maybe a positive since it can be adjusted.I realize my previous post about the Akra exhaust and it's price comes off pretentious AF. The point I was trying to make was that if a high end manufacturer like Akrapovic trusts slip-on systems, then I wouldn't be too hesitant to trust it on other manufacturers if the system is properly made.
One thing you should know about me is that I blindly value playing cars more than money. Very much to my wife's disdain.
Not pretentious at all, never let them tell you you're pretentious for talking about things they can't afford.I realize my previous post about the Akra exhaust and it's price comes off pretentious AF.
