Amy experience with the Azenis 615k+ or the Nankang CRS V2 that would be good for both street and autoX?

I keep looking on marketplace forused 18" just for a track setup to run some RE71's but either nothing fits or they're nice, expensive wheels.

I'm running my OE 4S until the fall as well and revisiting the situation then. I'll probably go with a softer 265 all-season for year-round driving, then pick up a set of 18"s and go 275/35 200tw.

Sadly, the Apex EC-7 is already back ordered after their sale and I'm kicking myself for not ordering a set. I can't seem to find any other good 18" option 53-60mm.

I run Falken 615k+ on street and plan to autocross with at the next event I can attend.

The tires are loud compared to my Continental DWS06+ and Michelin PS4S, but thatā€™s to be expected.

Any 200TW tire is arguably better than an all season or summer tire, but Iā€™ve heard the 615k+ are not a class leader. There are more performant options.

Oh wow, I wasn't aware they were that loud. I have both of the other tires you mentioned also & the PS are definitely louder than the DWS+, even on 18" wheels now.

I've been playing around a little with Map 2 of my custom tune which has definitely helped with 2nd gear traction. In Map 1 it's full boost and so much fun, so I figure if I can offset that 2nd gear wheel spin with a better tire that would be awesome. I might have to go with a dedicated setup for that though opposed to enjoying it on the street.

Or just often swap different sets. šŸ˜„

If you can, I recommend having a set to swap on for events. Tires will last longer and you donā€™t have to be concerned with driving on worn tires home.

I will probably pick up a set of extremely light 18s as dedicated autocross wheels/tires for next season and keep my TEs as a nice summer wheel.

If you are running 18s, it's hard to beat the 615s for $200 each. They are an ok DD tire if you don't get a true winter or have a winter set and they actually last a while as long as you aren't too focused on heat cycling out.

Wish they came in 19s... Only downside is the Falkens are HEAVY.

If it's warm and dry I'll run ~31-33psi cold, gets it to ~35-38 hot. On OEM PS4S and it seems to work pretty well.

https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/can-the-bridgestone-potenza-race-really-do-it-all/

Have any of u guys considered the newish Bridgestone Potenza Race for DD and intermittent autox use?

Ive used the Michelin PS4S and the Conti Extremecontact for DD and intermittent autox and ive not been impressed with the autox capabilities.

My autox default tire is still the re71rs
I would happily consider the Race, if they made it in 265 or 275/30/19.

I want RE-71RS as much as anyone, but I don't want 18s.

If I decided I needed to get Very Serious about times, then I'd do 18s and at that point would definitely go straight to the 71rs.

For now looks like I'm stuck with Cup2s or RT660 (in 275). It'll be a game time decision after I'm through with my PS4S, which at this rate with just this and next weekend slated for events so far this season, looks like will probably get me through this summer. I'll see where I'm at around late August and maybe investigate some options at that point.

I'm treating this season as exploratory as far as discovering how serious I want to get next season...

Had my first event in the Type-S last weekend.

For those that don't know - I've been doing this 'seriously' for over 20 years. Trophied a few times at Nationals before and have won a few Tour's & Pro's along the way. I've always been a 'FWD specialist' and mainly run cars in GS and HS. Last year I ran a '22 GTI in G-Street.

I am running my Type-S in BS this year.
My set-up is as follows:
-18x9.5 Apex wheels with 275/35-18 Kumho V730 tires (only drive at autocross, OEM wheels/tires for transit and rain autocross).
-RV6 rear bar with RV6 endlinks (full stiff setting)
-'Autocross' alignment (zero front toe, 1/8 toe out in rear)

The event was the St Louis CAM Challenge, which was about a 6hr drive for me. Recently resealed asphalt site.

I showed up to run on Friday as they had a test and tune. It ended up being a very short 17sec course, but was enough to get the mold release off and try a few settings. I bought/took 12 runs and switched wheels from front-to-rear half way through.

I actually had my fastest TnT time posted with ESC in "reduced" mode. Very odd. I figured it was due to the wheelspin I was incurring off of the start with the pedal-dance. I also was fastest in Sport+ mode.

I was able to get very close to my fastest TnT time after doing the pedal dance and running the car in my Individual mode (Comfort shocks, Sport Steering, everything else in Sport+)....

I settled on 35psi front and 50psi rear for tire pressures on the V730.

For the course on Saturday I started in Sport+ and pedal dance. My times were surprisingly slow, but that was a pre-curser for the whole weekend for me. I frustratingly switched to pedal dance and my Individual mode for the afternoon, but was still not thrilled with my times. Saturday evening was fairly frustrating as I was running 45sec times and should have been in the 42's.

I went over some video with some of my trusted companions and took a different line for Sunday but only marginally improved into the low/mid 44's. I did go from front-to-rear again on tires though.

I left ever frustrated but realize that the V730 tire needs a few heat cycles and runs before it starts to get good. And that I am adjusting to a car with more power and handling ability that I have driven in the past. But I failed to make the top 10 in my class when I figured I would be top-5.

Unsure when my next event will be - but hoping the tires come in a bit and I can drive a bit better.

Anyways, here is my video.

What offset are your wheels? Itā€™s a shame the stock wheels are such a high offset considering the majority of aftermarket options place you outside of BS. Iā€™m likely going to run SM/SMF this year due to the fact that my TEs are et38.

I should pick up a cheap set of 18s for the 200TWs next season.

I'll report my "fun" with the ITS on PS4Ss in New Joisey tomorrow/Saturday. I plan to do a full pedal dance and maxing on the settings (maximum sport plus "Mr. Fusion" mode). Honda is also doing a ride n drive in another lot for their Electro SUV, too. I'm going to swing by to see what they have to offer (hopefully some swag).

I have +58. The Apex EC-7 18x9.5 option. I can likely get away with a small 3mm spacer if I wanted but I donā€™t want to deal with them and risk any thread engagement issues.
