So useless I never even set it up, and I supposedly have the full-fat version. As for spying on you and feeding your insurance? Data in aggregate maybe, but unlikely to the individual, and not in a way that will affect your rates. Besides, the insurers get all that and more from the clients they convince to use their first-party apps and monitoring dongles in exchange for lower rates. Google and Apple are harvesting far more every time you boot up AA/CP, all while listening to how often you fart.

Is anything even valuable? It's all fairly archaic. After setting time zone and some basic car settings I haven't touched any menu option anywhere, and haven't really had a need to. AA does it all, and reliably.

We've discussed this in another thread and the answer is nuanced.

Firstly it's about plausible deniability. Android Auto, can plug in to any car, even as a passenger. I'm fairly certain it doesn't record the car it's connected to and it definitely doesn't know who's driving. Google's desire is to know your whereabouts to serve you more pertinent ads for more money. Near a McDonald's, here's an ad that will maybe get you there.

The Acura app however connects to your Acura. Your car + your phone equals high likelihood you're the driver. Furthermore, past the subscription fee they have nothing else to monetize except for driver data.

As for anonymity/aggregation, tell that to the GM owners who got screwed over through LexisNexis. The data bypassed the phone, being taken directly from the car and sent to the mothership through the OnStar system. Anyone who bought a Camaro/Corvette to drive it like it was designed to, they had a rude surprise when they went to renew their insurance.

Some people will gladly take the lack of privacy for the convenience it gives because they drive like geriatrics. Other like myself, purposely skipped the Honda Civic Hybrid Touring trim because it has the direct link to Honda and instead got the Sport Hybrid (for the wife) but still use AA when I drive it.

At the end of the day this is a personal preference and the only concern for those opposed is that we reach a day where it's no longer possible to opt out.

The media player is janky but does the job, hi-res flac too. Streamers can suck it.

We're already there. The comical part is people complaining about their car spying on them while happily exposing all their shit to some fucking billionaire's social media data grab in exchange for some retarded looping videos.
