I'm sure you guys have heard of the 1.5t head gasket issues. It seems like a new lawsuit has propped up in Canada regarding this issue.

https://driving.ca/auto-news/driver...it-class-action-quebec-head-gasket-turbo-1-5l

it seems to be a relevant problem even in the newer L15CA's, therefore the 5th gen Integra (not Type S), and 11th gen Si's, although not as prevalent as we run 91 octane, compared to the blown gaskets in the accords which (I may be wrong on this) run on non-premium?

I was also told the L15CA's have stronger heads and rods but I guess that was false? if any tech can confirm this that would be great.

I know we have a tuning reliability thread but im curious if anyone here that is tuned on the 1.5t is at all concerned about their head gasket? I was thinking of running Phearable 1.5t map 1 to keep stock boost but allow a linear powerband.

what do you guys think? whether of tuning, or just this topic/lawsuit in general. curious as to what you guys think on (what seems to be) an age old issue.

I had a severely ‘weepy’ head gasket on my first integra (ASpec) within the first 10k mi but thankfully have no issues so far here on my second integra (11k mi)

Have had the phearable 1.5r tune for about 500 miles on the CVT with all bolt ons short of a new turbo and engine rebuild.

Haven't had much chance for WOT but was doing some short pulls from 60-90 this weekend to test it out. Was mostly testing for boost leak, though.

There's 1 guy on the tuning thread that had a blown head gasket, but I don't think we ever got a full explanation on that. And there was another guy with an imploded PRL HVI, but most were assuming the fact that the guy had painted it had caused issues.

2016-2018ish are the bad model years to buy a honda with the L15, I’m not surprised a 2016 had more issues leading to this lawsuit.

But I thought there have been both software and hardware revisions since then and our L15CA, so who knows if we’ll have this issue to a large extent. Would also appreciate if anyone with knowledge about what’s different between the L15CA and other L15s could chime in.

Not that worried about it really, but also not planning on keeping this car for too much longer for other reasons.

Slap in some ARP head studs and you're good. I think the bigger, heavier vehicles had more problems, the accords and CRVs.
