Your choice of coating, sealant, or wax?

I use Fireball's shooter bright ceramic coating. I've had it on the car since the fall and its really impressed me. I top it off with ethos finish shine as a drying aid and if I really feel like it I like to throw a wax on it when the weather is nice.

This questions really depends on how the car is used, and maintained.

Personally, im OCD. My garage kept cars get corrected and ceramic sealnat like Jescar ETC. I prefer the warm glow of a sealant, and makes it to spot correct and re-seal.

Daily drivers get corrected, and coated with ceramic. Carpor SiC is my favorite. Its one of the clearest coatings(alot are yellowing in nature). Its not the longest lasting, but when combined with a product like Carpro Hydro foam as a sacrifical layer, it provides years and years of protection

I had read that wax on ceramic is not needed and that I can affect the water beading quality of ceramic. I'd be interested to hear your experience with that.

It highly depends on the quality of the wax itself. Older school waxes tend to sheet water more than bead. Newer developed high quality waxes tend to keep that water beading property. Of course the gloss doesn't hold as long as a naked car because of the slickness of a ceramic coating but check this video out! It's something you can totally do as long as it's not a cleaner wax/anything with abrasives.

I use gyeon synchro. Have been for a long ass time. Got almost 4 years out of it before they reformulated to the newer synchro evo.

we did my sons si in spring 2022 and the hydrophobics haven’t taken a hit at all. Pretty impressive stuff. I’m curious if it’ll survive one more winter and make it to 5 years

for prewash I use gyeon restart. For physical contact scrubbing I use gyeon foam. For a quick hit of gloss I finish the wash with gyeon bathe plus then gyeon wet coat

gyeon is like the opposite of chemical guys. Everything gyeon makes is solid

Most "spray on sealant" type things are actually a ceramic coating, just not quite as concentrated and hard. They're "semi-permanent". Optiseal was one of my favorites years ago and if you can get your hands on the OG formula it makes a great ceramic topper. The typical "top up" coatings ceramic companies sell are typically just old school spray on ceramics/sealants.

Ime, ceramic on for two layers, spray sealant for 2 to 3 layers, and true carnuba on top keep me from caring about washing it. I can go 4 to 6 months of no washing and it looking passable before a single wash restores it to zero swirls and nearly new in appearance.... Some people care about keeping their car clean all the time, but I care about limiting damage to the paint. The trade off is, it's rarely spotless for long

Thats why light drying aids are really helpful. If you like washing your car but want to be quick. Use a sealant/coating as your base. Then every time you wash use a quick detailer of your choice when you go to towel dry the car to add a smidge bit of protection. I really like ethos finish shine/armor detail supply adapt.
