Which air filter?

So, I went to Acura online parts and found what they recommend OEM air filter, 35$.

I found a filter on Rock auto for $10 they claim is better than OES and has more media to it.

Then I thought, let me see what other options there are and what others are using and why.

I found the Spoon filter for $119 that claims to add turbo sounds and lasts a long time.

And of course, I found the K&N filter for between $52 and $65 depending on where I order it from.

I've never been one for re-useable filters, so I thought I would ask.

What is the consensus here, OEM or aftermarket?
No performance mods done, not planning to do any for a while, I do want good performance over everything else, but if it came with turbo noises, I would like that too, but the sound isn't the main goal here.
What are you folks suggesting?

A air filter doesn't add Turbo sounds. The sound you typically hear is from the blow off valve / BOV.

I think aftermarket is nice for performance but can reduce MPG due to the recalibration of your ECU and for little gain.

I had the Sprint filter for about 1000 miles before I ended up getting the PRL intake. I chose it over K&N just because I preferred a non oiled filter. Just blow it off with compressed air to clean rather than risk some oil getting sucked in where you don't want it. It made a little more induction noise and maybe added a little tiny bit of responsiveness.

Always had K&N on my cars for many, many years.

Tried the Spoon filter, but finally returned to K&N. Didn't feel the Spoon filter would remove anything since the holes in the filter are quite big: you can see through the filter.

Stick with the OEM filter. You could get an aftermarket, high-flow filter, but you are sacrificing filtration for flow.

I considered the Spoon filter but you can see through it, lol and I am thinking, I value stopping sand and other micro particles from entering my engine over any sounds it might help produce.
after considering performance and watching a handful of YouTube videos I think I am going to just go OEM at this point.
I'm still undecided, but thinking on it.

This was my assessment after a little research as well, 99% sure I am going OEM at this point.

I have the blue PRL panel filter available for $30 shipped if you want it. I swapped it out for the PRL HVI intake system. The panel filter has maybe 500 miles on it.
Very cool of you, how much shipped to CT 06010?

Agreed, I too looked at one, my first though was, oh hell no!! I can see sand making its way through there in no time.

Would you say the PRL intake induction noise is noticeable louder than the sprint filter? Debating to upgrade to the PRL HVI.

Yep, noise levels:
OEM < Sprint < PRL

Only reason not to do PRL HVI is if you want one of the 1500-2000 pretty carbon fiber HVI's. Those may or may not require a tune, while PRL is fine on stock tune.

The K&N intake actually gave me 2 more mpgs. K&N drop in if youre not going to put a intake on it. You get some turbo noises when you floor it. If you want some nice whooshes you should get a open air cone intake but they are like $400.

I hope you are strong enough to make decisions for yourself in the future. But, I am willing to be a Power of Attorney if you are unable to make car modification decisions on your own.
