What about the road+ option compared to the resonated? My primary concern is drone but I also prefer a relatively loud tone.

@MERAKIAUTOWORKS is right on in that the perception or tolerance of drone is different for different people. What's great for one person, might annoy another. Based on what I've read online, doubtful some people even know what drone is. It's discussed so often it's become this nebulous phenomenon. If you're sensitive to exhaust frequencies, your best bet is to hear it in person at a local meet or a 1:1. Getting a ride along will also be helpful. Zero chance I'd spend the money on an exhaust based on the account of randos on the Interweb.

The stock exhaust isn't loud enough to have what I would consider to be drone. On decel I could hear what would become drone with a cat back, but I've experienced drone enough times at different levels with different cars and engines to know this simply does not compare. Even with the TSP do and PRL front pipe it doesn't have drone, but I could see going to anything beyond that would probably induce a little drone in sport and sport+.

I have had the AWE Track Exhaust on my 2019 RS3 8V, 2018 M5, and 2021 S4. All 3 had different characteristics and oddly enough different amount of cylinders. It is absolutely correct when people say it is up to the individual persons taste. I can say with 100% confidence I will be buying AWE Track Exhaust for my DE5.

RS3 Considerations:
5 Cylinder. The RS3 sound being a DSG auto traditionally has more drone than other automatics. I found the sound to be intoxicating. The drone was quite high in that setup though. I couldn't really even have conversations without talking loudly. Which is fine because I drive by myself 95% of the time. The drone didn't bother me though.
M5 Considerations:
8 Cylinder. The M5 was the best sounding of all 3 of these. The cold start was so loud that I had to start it with my garage door closed. ABSOLUTE animal and sounded so amazing. I actually scared someone and they stumbled while walking when I cold started my car in front of them at a restaurant. LOL. There was VERY little drone in this system. I found it quite compliant and really the only time you had to be careful was cold starting it super early in the morning.
S4 Considerations:
6 Cylinder. The S4 sounded great. Very little drone and a decent amount of sound. To be honest, the S4 was the quietest of the 3 and I actually wanted more sound.

I will say that Youtube videos are fine, but hearing it in person is completely different.

big fan of the tip design and the tech behind 180°, I think I will go with AWE when the time comes.

Went with the Borla exhaust and was absolutely loving it for the first few hundred miles — great tone, solid build quality, and it really brought out some character in the car. Lately, though, I’ve noticed a bit of drone starting to creep in. I’ve reached out to Borla’s customer support, and they’ve been pretty responsive so far. I’ve also heard solid things about their service overall, so I’m not too concerned. It seems like this might be a one-off issue, and I’m hopeful we’ll get it figured out soon.

Can only speak to the AWE touring exhaust: zero drone, and IMO the best sounding exhaust. I liked the idea of not having to change the sound via a valve which led me to purchasing. Have been running it for majority of my ownership now. Only issue that is well documented by others is related to a "rasp" or metallic sound at certain ranges in the RPM band. Pretty sure its metal-to-metal contact somewhere (haven't had the time to check since installing lol) but plan on bringing it into an exhaust shop to look at eventually. The main issue I've had with the product is the exhaust clamps came undone a few months ago, leading the rear exhaust hangers to fall off of the rubber piece connecting it to the car and exhaust loosely hanging. Might want to add threadlocker if you go this route.

I have the TSP downpipe and the AWE Touring and have so much drone. With the seats down, it almost shakes the car under load. It’s unbearable. Will the Milltek valved Resonated fix this or should I just buy a front pipe and throw on the stock exhaust?
Also did the charge pipe, intake and intercooler at the same time, not sure if that added to the drone.
