Odd Noise When Turning ignition on/off

This morning when starting the car, it made an odd noise along with the boot animation in the cluster. It sounds like a scrapping/dragging noise.

It happens on startup infrequently but every time when turning the car off. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like the steering wheel lock mechanism is stripping gears.

The noise was coming from the steering column. I have not heard it again since the day of the original post.

The dealer replaced the steering wheel cable reel a few weeks ago. I wonder if it's related to that in any way. The steering wheel had to be removed to replace the part so who knows. I'll ask about it when I go back in a few days.
