Preface: This is the first car I bought on my own with insurance I bought on my own.

The damage isn't severe (thankfully because I was under a tree.) but there is some peppering along the hood and one of the uncovered sides.

There was a guy advertising his hail repair shop known as "HailDentPro" who came by our house advertising his service as "No cost extra cost," but I definitely felt there may be a catch because how else would they make money? Guy said he would help me find a rental car through my insurance as the process could take 2-4 weeks.

(Which checks out time-wise when I recently had my mother's accord repaired for a hit and run. )

I heard insurance can also do appraisals, but I'm genuinely curious to know what the best course of action would be? I'm very new to these types of damages and what insurance might claim or if my premium will go up.

I’ve known folks who chase tornadoes in the Midwest half of the year and then chill the rest of the year doing PDR. Paintless dent repair would be my first course if possible. Good luck.

I have a guy locally who is almost magic when it comes to these types of repairs...yes insurance will raise premiums, but if you have the cash you can pay outright an not ding your premium or the carfax

2-4 weeks??!!
Yeah this is nuts for dent repair...

Should be same day. Set an appt and go there or they come out. They setup sighting lights, and then pop em quickly.

I generally recommend staying away from insurance for anything you can pay for out of pocket. Even if they don't raise your premiums immediately, you will ALWAYS end up paying back the difference over time +20%. Remember, while insurance is mandatory (and recommended), it's a for profit business in most states and a largely unethical one. It's there for catastrophes.
