For those with kids in high back booster seats, what are you using? The booster seat we purchased doesn't fit properly. The fixed headrests in the backseat cause a gap between the booster seat and the actual car seat which prevents from sitting flush.

The gap is only a problem with high back boosters from what I've been reading. The 4 in 1 seat we have doesn't have the same issue.

Problem with the 4 in 1 is that the base is taller, so we can't raise the backrest anymore or it will hit the roof.

I have the slimfit 3lx which is a convertible but can be used as a highback booster in its 3rd configuration. It's being used FF right now but I have no gap.

Similar boat for me except we have the Graco grows4me.

It has just enough relief to fit perfectly.

The 4 in 1 we have (Graco 4Ever DLX) fits the same way. If you're using that seat as a backless booster eventually, you'll likely run into the same problem. The back cannot be raised anymore because of the roof line. As long as our children don't grow more, we'll be ok :p

I paid a lot for this diono just for the colour, and don't regret it one bit.

Which Diono model is it?
Sorry, it's the Everett NXT. Uses the two lower latch connectors and no top strap so it won't smash your headrest.

I have about 2" until roofline at this point and my son is sitting at just under 44" tall. He could technically go backless, but I hadn't planned on getting him there until he was at 49". 49 is the cutoff to move to backless.

How do you have the base adjusted? With it set to position 6 (FF booster position for bigger kids) and 5 (FF for smaller kids) it fits fine and the headrest is not in the way. I can't imagine backless position would make this any different... But maybe I'm picturing your issue incorrectly?

Keep in mind also that most car seats are designed with a flat or slightly positive raked seat. Our seats are not that and with the cushion being so soft, the bases need more adjustment than typical on all seats I've tried. The best fitting so far has been the doona, but only because it has its own dedicated adjustment for angle of base and even that is maxed out to get it into the "safe" zone. Can't fit a big kid into a doona though... I've tried ?, he didn't like it.

Our stupid headrests are also too soft, so you really have to crush them to make the seat safe... That's a good call if that 2 latch design works up to standard!

Typo, I meant if you're using this as a high back booster, not backless. Yes position 6. It clears the headrest but the car seat can't be adjusted to the next level because of the roof.

It's booster-only, no kid-fastening belts, so the latch is just to keep the seat from moving around. I had a 3-in-1 I didn't want to move to this car because of the top strap problem.

Got it! Now that makes sense in my head, lol.

Yeah that diono looks nice. I had planned to just go backless when my kid outgrew the adjustment, but I think different Graco seats have different shoulder points. Our slimfit one in the audi is way larger and wouldn't fit in the Integra. The grows4me seems wider but shorter so it fits a bit better.
