I agree to each their own, but worrying about your eyes off the road? You are in your driveway LOL.
I guess for me it's not as big a deal, but I could definitely see it being extra useful in @Spart's case where you have multiple hazards while pulling in. One less thing to worry about.

No, I'm not in my driveway.

I'm opening that sucker 200ft down the road because I don't want to sit and wait in my driveway for the door to open.

It also works immediately when the ignition switches on, so when leaving the garage I don't have to wait for the infotainment to boot up and connect to my phone.

If you like doing everything through a finicky touchscreen, you might've bought the wrong sporty sedan. Subaru WRX is the car for you, they crammed everything they could into that screen for maximum misery.

Aside from the stem and harness, there's exactly zero difference between the frameless mirror that came in my Integra and the Accord frameless mirror with Homelink, other than the Homelink buttons.

They're absolutely identical.

Homelink being off when the car is off also isn't unique to the MDX, that would apply to the Accord mirror also. It's a consequence of using the wire that powers the auto dimming function to also power the Homelink module, so control of when that circuit is on or off comes from the car, not the mirror. The Integra only powers the auto dimming circuit when the ignition is switched on.

The advantage to the Accord mirror is Honda dealers are more competitive to order from online. The MDX mirror runs about $20 more. If you want to spend $20 to have an Acura logo on a box you're going to throw in the trash, go for it.

Ha, I like your logic! In my mind, I was just thinking that the Acura-to-Acura wiring would be more foolproof, but the reality is, those cars are all built in the same plant with pretty much the same parts, so I'll nix that thinking right away, ha.

So, with the wiring, as I'm getting the red & yellow wires jumpered in, do I have a choice between setting up the wiring for always-on, or only on when in accessory/on mode? Or are you saying that the Integra, as it currently is, will only send power to the mirror when acc./on, and thus, by default, to the HomeLink buttons only when acc./on?

@chad75 Yes, don't fall into the illusion that a part is better just because it's sold by Acura or more expensive. You'll find that if you look closely at many parts in the Integra, they will have Honda branding. Even the rubber mat at the bottom of the armrest storage is Honda labeled and says "The Civic History Goes on" on the bottom of it. Many of these parts are interchangeable and share the same part number whether you look them up on a Honda site or an Acura site.

Great logic! My kid just ran out to the car to see the bottom of that mat, ha... thanks for that tidbit!

I couldn't figure out how people got the wire to stay for the jump. I ended up just cutting the wire and using a wire butt connector since I don't have a soldering iron.

@Pied , Good information.... I was actually wondering if we could just use a butt connector... seems like most everyone is using solder, which I know is THE most reliable method to connect wires... but barring that, crimp a butt connector really well and seal it with heat tubing? Secure enough?

The Integra actually shares more with the Civic than it does with other Acuras.

Regarding the wiring, there's a pinout somewhere in a Civic forum for the connector that goes to the back of the Civic/Integra's mirror harness - I'll have to see if I can find it. Alternatively, you can go in with a multimeter and test each of the pins to determine which ones are live always (+12V constant), only on ACC (switched +12V), only when the car is in reverse (control for dimming), never (ground or not connected), etc. I'll look for it and post here in a bit.
But to answer your question, from what I remember I believe there's a blank spot in the harness connector where the mirror would accept a constant +12V connection, and that's where people are adding the jumper from the switched +12V pin to get power for the HomeLink controls. In this setup, you'd only have HomeLink when the car is in ACC or running. If you want it on always, you'd probably need the Accord harness or another constant +12V source.

Perfect, thanks.

And, yes, I'm shooting for setup A, only having HomeLink control when the car is in ACC/running.

I didn't add any additional heat shrink. It has been secure for me. I installed it ~7 month ago.

No choice to be made here. The Integra's wiring harness isn't populated on the pin that goes to the wire for Homelink power. So you're splicing into the power for the auto-dimming and living with the way the car decides to energize that component.

Therefore, switched with igniton only.

Well you have got me all wrong as far as you thinking I like touch screen operations over buttons and knobs. I also fire open my garage a couple of hundred feet away but there's not much danger for me in my 20 mph housing tract. I'm very curious of the perils you face 200 ft from your garage door? As for leaving the house I do take my time and let the screen pop up before exiting so that's not a big deal for me.

Nah. Not doing this. Continue to argue duplicitously and in bad faith with someone else, you're going on the ignore list.
