Ill try not to get long winded here but we entered our brand new DE5 into a local SCCA event and MAN did this thing perform!!

I ran B Street and my girl ran B Street L. She got first place! Out of one 🤣. But she LOVED it. It was her first time. Kinda. She’s done it for a few laps in a fit like 10 years ago. She got after it and got competitive as the day went on. It was so fun to see her take to it.

I took third place but I was close enough to the top two that I’m BEYOND inspired about what I can do in this car with some seat time. It does have a little lag out of the turns. Can’t run in 1st or it would have no traction and in 2nd I have more than I’d like. TSP downpipe is in order. 6-10 weeks. It will also be lowered and have an intake and front pipe before our next event. I’m debating a sway bar…… The car could use a little help rotating but I also need to learn how to make it rotate. I’m used to running courses a BIG power 2016 TT Camaro SS so this is very different than I’m used to.

The Michelins liked 34.5 in the rear and 40.5 in the front. Any less and the fronts would rolled over. I should have bumped the rear up to see if it helped rotate the rear. It was perfect weather. 65-70 and overcast.

Brakes weren’t an issue. Just lots of brake dust. Car stays pretty flat. We’re both HOOKED!!

More to come. I’ll post after the mods. Next event is 8-15 I think as we’re out of town for the next one.

Damn that’s dope man! Grats to her LOL

personally I find it easier to rotate the rear when the rear tire pressure matches the front. I just dunno if that’s a good idea or going to create bad habits

That’s definitely one way to rotate it. I try to watch and make sure they still wear pretty much across the whole tread. I haven’t tried that high. If I can’t rotate at the next event, I’ll bump them up much higher in the rear and see how it behaves/wears. šŸ‘ŠšŸ¼

Pull the alignment pins and loosen the strut tops to gain a lot more neg camber. Align it with toe zero all around or some toe out, and she won't have any trouble rotating.

Factory alignment was horrendous in my case. One side was toed way too far in and the other was slightly in. A good alignment REALLY wakes up the car.

With downpipe, you'll drop a tiny bit of lag, but you'll also be making a lot more torque earlier, which may hurt more than help in autox if modding for your class is your goal...

Thank you! I'll get them to align it with a slight toe out and i'll explain that i'm using it primarily for autox and commuting. I'm already in XA so I can modify to my hearts content, thankfullly. I decided just to bite the bullet and start running with my group now, going forward. No point racing in B Street knowing i'll be modded out of it in weeks or even days... Spacers arrive today. Black badges did too. I like it much more with them.

The down pipe change will put you in another class (not a Street class).

Yeah that what I was reading. I'll be racing in XA going forward. Pretty wide open in that class to do whatever I believe.....

Thought about that too especially with the shields completely hiding it šŸ˜‚. I get bumped because of the bonoss spacers too. And I lowkey wanna race some modded fools and beat them (evil laughter).
