Fender bender repair questions

Hi all,

Unfortunately when I was at the gym yesterday, some heinous loser hit my fender enough to cause some minor damage. I'm guessing it was maybe a 3-point turn and they just hit me. I'm not fully sure. Obviously there was no note or anything.

I will reach out to some local body shops tomorrow, but I'm wondering if anyone here would be able to give me a rough estimate of what I can expect in terms of payment as well as turnaround time? I appreciate it.

This is what 3100$ looks like not including PPF which I'll find out tomorrow. 2 panels, fender liner, wheel, and door scratches. PPF made mine look better than it is. Im lucky the guy that hit me is paying cash and i know the body shop so this will not end up on my carfax.

Oh yeah, whatever you do, DO NOT take your car to a Caliber Collision. It's the Walmart of body shops

Typically per body panel you're looking at 700$ for proper sand, blend paint, clear. For a pearl paint or a fancier metallic color add 200$. (that's a per panel cost)

Like others mentioned if you have ppf you'll pay to take it off and put new on. If you have ceramic on it make sure the shop knows or else when they do the blend and clear they'll overspray onto ceramic and it won't set correctly.

They need to blend into the factory orange peel as well, so bring your own light and verify it all looks uniform after.

If anyone is quoting you far less, they're skipping time in prep or finish. Paint is cheap, good labor is expensive. Look for independent paint/body shops that are willing to show you their work.

how long did it take for a new fender or body panels to come in? I’m waiting on fender from dealership. Just wondering an ETA ball park since they didn’t give me one.

Hey there, sorry for the late reply. Took my car to a Gerber auto repair place since they played nicely with my insurance. I got my car back in about 5 days.

been waiting for a month (tomorrow makes it a month) since ordering the actual fender form dealership. I’m based in IL.
Crazy how you got yours in 5 days.. was that body work or a new fender and paint?

So I just took a look at the itemized invoice, and it looks like they repaired and repainted the panel, didn't order a new fender entirely. Sorry you're waiting for so long, that's frustrating.

I got my fender in. Was back ordered
July 24th ordered.
Came in today August 29th.
Type S Driver Fender if anyone needs this info..
