Aftermarket Boot Collar with OEM Knob

I cracked the plastic teeth on the silver boot collar retainer when trying to remove it. Does anyone have an aftermarket boot collar (Acuity, Hybrid Racing, etc) with the OEM shift knob? If so, are there any issues (fitment, chattering noises, etc) that you've noticed? Reading some reviews here and there about the Hybrid Racing collar, some say that it vibrates and/or makes noise.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about both the Acuity and Hybrid collars. Although, I did hear the Acuity leaves a little extra fabric of the boot collar which will bunch up slightly as the circumference isn’t as large as the oem collar; but still looks and feels great.

I think there are several ways around this but I heard the same thing.

Their kit comes with four low-profile zip ties, so you could put one or two of those on the collar, then the inside-out fabric, then another zip tie on top of that to secure.

Could also just wrap some fabric tape. I have some Tesa tape for wiring harnesses and that's probably what I would do.

Acuity looks and feels great, cant go wrong with either though. Others pointed out there is a little fabric that sticks out with it. I just wrapped some electrical tape around it to increase the circumference, and problem solved.

I’ll be replacing both my boot and boot collar while retaining the oem shift knob within the next month. I’ll be sure to post so you can see how it turned out

Hey man! I got the Acuity collar installed tonight along with the type-s alcantara shift boot. Looks super clean and the annoying rattling I had with the plastic OEM boot collar is gone. I love it. I’m going to get a slightly heavier knob in the future and probably a ball shape as well to fit my paw better. I’ll post a pic tomorrow on my lunch break at work

Thanks for following up on this, I appreciate the pictures.

The double sided tape I was using to hold the broken collar to the lock nut finally stopped sticking. I got tired of pulling it up all the time and ended up getting the Hybrid Racing collar. I'll post pictures of that too.

Most def! And yes please do. I like the acuity but yeah like others have said, I had to bunch it a little to get it to huh the collar. Hopefully the Hybrid stays true to what others have said also and is nice and flush and form-fitted. I may wind up upgrading to it in the future and one of their shift knobs if I get bored with this one. I do like the oem though

I’m gonna thumbs up the felt tape. I installed the Acuity boots last year and the boot fabric bunched up making it annoying at times. I ordered 1/2” felt tape and low profile zip ties. The felt tape fit the Acuity collar perfect and there is no more bunched up fabric. Thank you for the suggestions.

Do you have links for the fly tape and zip ties you bought? I may remove my collar and do this to work around the little fold I had to make on the back of the knob. Great work!

Pictures as promised. I think the knob is a little lower then it should be, but that can be adjusted. Overall, I like the fit. It chatters a little bit if you wiggle it but nothing crazy.
