Howdy everyone,

I got my ITS the day the forums stopped working and have been loving it. Ever since I got it though I have noticed that the AC barely works. It will barely get cold and there are times when it feels like it is not blowing very hard either.
Today: Driving to go get gas (14 miles away, BP, super cheap gas, my favorite station) The air was not blowing super hard completely cranked up. I felt the air cut out at least 7 or 8 times to where it felt like it went from 6 clicks down to 2 clicks and was not super cold. Then on the way home no issues at all. It has been doing this ever since I got it. It works ok some times, but other times I feel like its barely blowing and blowing cool not COLD air.

Any thoughts as to what this could be?

My AC blows nice and cold, has the dealer been able to get to it yet? I'd bring it in ASAP and get a loaner.

I recently noticed the air gets less intense when you're using Siri in CarPlay (so the mic can pick up your voice with less background noise better), and goes back up to normal after you're done with the voice control. Are you using Siri / voice control often? If not, is there something your phone might be doing where the car thinks that's the case?

I have noticed that as well but it was just normal driving. My Android auto has been cutting in and out too so maybe something to do with that?

Interesting, I didn't realize this. Mine seems to blow slower but only at faster highway speeds or on heavy throttle.

I'm going to go for a drive without my phone connected at all and see if it dips the fan speed.

Yeah if the mic turns on at all the blower ramps down. This could be for something smart device related or even other software trying to grab the mic.

Also, for awareness, in any car when you go wot (and most cars when you go above 75% throttle) the clutch on the ac compressor will tap out and that will reduce the load on the engine from the ac. The belt will spin, but no gas will flow. You won't get a ramp down blower effect, but it will reduce air speed and will 100% not blow colder. You can hear and watch the compressor kick on and off in the engine bay.

The mic on does not clutch out the compressor to my knowledge. If your gas is low or high then the compressor will clutch in and out.

If the blower motor has issues, the hvac system will shut down the compressor. Honda auto climate control has been like this for well over 20 years.

If you manually crank the blower to full, does it stay there?

The system monitors blower current draw to determine if it's actually working properly. The blower motor speed controller (power transistor) sends this signal to the hvac controller.

These systems will not rapid cycle if low on refrigerant in hot weather. As they rely on evaporator temperature to shut off the clutch when it hits approx 38 degree in the evap core. It'll keep it on as long as possible to attempt to reach desired core temperature. The system will have lower overall pressures, and run possibly dangerous (to the compressor) low suction pressure under certain conditions.

I never reposted here. The situation went away after a few drives and now everything works fine. Doesn't cut out anymore either.
